“Nah, we got over that weirdness, what, like…?” Bass looks at Kolt.
“Years ago. Never just shared one girl, though.” Kolt bites into his toast. “Why? You still in that weird phase of being grossed out about it?”
I think the fact that we were supposed to be grossed out about it put us off more than the act. My brain wants to snag on it, tell me it’s weird or wrong, but it never stops the swapping. Maybe I’m just fucked in the head and too happy to care about it.
“Not really.” Kade shrugs, not feeling the need to explain.
We sit around and chat for an hour before the twins wind down enough to catch some sleep. I debate going back to bed, but Laken was exhausted, so she probably needs the time and space to sleep in a bit.
She told me about Kade’s punishment, if it could even be called that. He denied her so many orgasms and made her prove her worth, that I decided to go in the opposite direction. I got her off so many times she was begging me to stop, and then I took her to the bathroom and made up for the last bath we fucked up for her.
Times like dinner the other night, where the three of us were together, feel good, and I like those experiences. But I love that I still get time alone with her. A small part of me was worried I’d lose out on that, but with our schedules and timing, I’ve had lots of time to myself with her. Pretty sure we just respect each other’s space, too. Kade could have come to bed last night, but he stayed on the couch and got woken up by the twins just so I could have the night with her.
“Wanna go to the gym with me, work through a few circuits or fight or something?” I ask him, since we got up so early and all.
“You wanna marry her someday?” he blurts.
“What? Why?”
Kade sighs, running a hand through his hair. “I looked some shit up online, and if something goes wrong with her permanent residency stuff, she might need to marry for citizenship.”
Jesus. “Kade…” We aren’t in any position to talk about that, and to be honest, I don’t want it. Well, I’d love to marry her someday, but I don’t care if it’s legal and traditional or just some special thing we do to celebrate it.
“She was yours first, Jed.”
“So?”
“You’re older than me, been with her longer, have more right.”
“Right?” I slam the rest of my coffee. “I thought we were past this shit? All equals, no?”
“I know, but…”
“But nothing. She won’t marry either of us like that anyway. If she had to do it, which she won’t, she’d probably turn us both down and marry Gar or Zahn or someone.”
He laughs a bit. “Probably.”
I rub my temples. “I did some research, too. I tried looking up if it was legal to be in this kind of relationship here. I mean, it is, but not…legally. We can’t marry someone who’s already married or whatever.”
“Meaning we both can’t marry her.”
“No. Not that we’re anywhere near that, but who cares, right? We can do it our own way.” I shrug.
“As long as she can stay.” He looks at me. “Worst case scenario, we’re moving to the mountains in Canada. Alberta? BC? Wherever Wyatt is, I guess.” He laughs before he groans. “Fuck, he’s gonna fuck with me so bad the next time he comes.”
I grin at that. “Looking forward to it.” Wyatt is a badass, and I’m definitely looking forward to him putting Kade through the wringer. “But trust me, Laken won’t care about some certificate that says we’re married. She’ll just want us to do it however we decide to do it. Later. A lot later. Like in the far future when you aren’t this young and I’m not this dumb.”
He grins into his mug. “Still going to the gym?” He stands. “Enjoy your lift, McGregor. I’m going to be selfish and wake her up.”
I grab the back of his hoodie to stop him. “No. Gym. Let’s go.”
Later that night, I don’t even know what is happening. There are women everywhere, and I’m…I don’t think I’ve ever seen this many chicks in the house. The twins are watching this scene unfold with utter confusion on their faces, Bo is sitting back like it’s no big deal, Hardin is chasing after Freya with drinks and tea and all the snacks, and Zahn’s just watching everything like it’s TV.
“What is this?” Kade asks. “What’s happening right now?”
Madness.
“Whiskey and ginger ale, Genevieve?” Four asks.
