“Are you okay?” I ask him on Sunday. We’re in the spa again. We spent Saturday night having dinner downstairs and then had a spa in our suite for the remainder of the evening. I honed in on my new found oral skills and I’m quickly beginning to learn this could be one of my favorite things to do to Tyler. He’s certainly loving it too, but something still feels a little off tonight. I know he wasn’t feeling the best on Friday, and he put it down to stress and fatigue.

“My ex called me,” he says from nowhere.

I stare at him from across the spa. “What?”

“I’m sorry, Cind. It came as a surprise to me as well, but I needed to tell you.”

“She wants you back?” I whisper.

I shake my head. “No, it’s not that. She wanted to talk to me, but since I wasn’t in town, she said it could wait.”

“Have you seen her since you broke up?” I say, shocked by his confession. I wonder if he still has feelings for her and my heart starts to race.

We said we were falling in love with each other last night, and now his ex is calling? It seems weird to me.

“No, babe. I haven’t. And I didn’t intend on seeing her again, but she made it clear it was urgent and she wanted to talk to me in person.”

“Was this the other night?”

“Yeah, it was. I’m sorry, I should have told you.”

I have to admit I’m a little taken aback by what he’s saying and what could be so drastic she needs to talk in person. She definitely wants him back, that’s for sure.

“She saw us that night after the Stanley Cup,” he says, not looking too happy about it. “You know, when I thought I said I saw her when we were pulling out of the stadium.”

“What? That was her?”

“Yeah. She got spooked when she saw us together.”

“Shit, Ty. Maybe she’s going to spill something to the press if she saw us. Would she do that?”

“I don’t see why,” he says. “And she wouldn’t know who you were, babe, or have seen you in the dark, I don’t think. We broke up on okay terms, as far as breakups go. I wouldn’t say we’re best friends, but I don’t think she’d make things difficult.”

“Seems weird that she’s just popping up now.”

“Very, and I don’t like it,” he says.

I don’t push him because I can see he’s not happy about it and looks stressed. I move over closer to him.

“I’m worried about Ashton too. He and his dad weren’t exactly on the best terms when he left for Florida.”

“Yeah, it sounded bad,” I say. “Has there been any update?”

“Not yet.”

“Whatever happens, I’m here for you, Ty,” I whisper as he pulls me to him and I wrap my arms around his neck. “You know that, right?”

“Thanks, babe. That means a lot to me.”

“I hate seeing you stressed.” I reach up to kiss him softly. He definitely is a different Ty to the one who got here, but I get the fact he’s stressed and for some reason, his ex seems to be doing most of that. “We can make out? maybe take your mind off things.”

“That sounds good,” he breathes, placing his hands on my hips as I straddle him and sit in his lap.

“You’re happy to see me again,” I giggle, pressing forwards into his bulge.

“Always. He never goes down around you.”

“Ty!”
