I feel him deeper in this position, and he’s hitting the right spot.

“All of you.” His voice cracks, and I pull away, pressing my palm against his cheek.

“I don’t want this to be my last night with you.”

“It doesn’t have to be.”

He presses his forehead to mine as I continue to bounce on his lap, taking him hard and fast with each thrust.

When my release hits me, I find myself holding back from giving him everything because the weight of the three words on the tip of my tongue is too heavy.

I couldn’t possibly love Colter after only a week of knowing him.

It still doesn’t change the fact that I do.

COLTER

Ava mentioned her roommate and best friend, Hallyn, would be arriving today. She reminded me this morning after I got home from conditioning that her boyfriend would be with her.

I’ve heard his name around along with the rumors he’s the starting QB for Keaton. I guess there’s some truth to him being the reason Alec transferred to play for the Eagles after all.

Football season is underway, and I wasn’t going to let anyone get in my head. No way was I going to let them interfere with my relationship with Ava either.

“Will you help me carry my bags inside?” I overhear Hallyn ask Tanner in the dining room.

We managed to finish moving in Ava’s furniture right in the nick of time.

He doesn’t see me standing in the doorway to Ava’s room when he glances down at his arm, clenching his jaw in annoyance.

“Are your legs broke; can’t you get it? I told you I tweaked my arm at practice today,” Tanner barks.

“Don’t worry. Ava asked me to bring a couple things up from her car. I’ll grab yours too, while I’m out there.” I lift my hand to Hallyn, waving it off that it’s no problem.

Tanner curls his lip in a snarl as if he’s trying to warn me to back off and mind my own business.

“It’s no problem, man.” I smirk. “You rest up that arm. You’re gonna need it if you think you’re going to beat Braysen this year.” I add a wink, playing it off that I’m joking.

I should’ve known this kid would be an asshole after the way Ava has spoken about him.

I have no idea what Hallyn sees in him. Hell, I don’t know her well enough to even speculate, but it makes sense why Ava didn’t want to stay with her brother, knowing he’d be there too.

Ava is busying herself with putting her clothes away in her closet when I finish a few minutes later. She stops what she’s doing and picks up her wallet from her dresser.

“Here, take this.” She holds out money for me, and I shake my head.

“I’m not takin’ your fuckin’ money, Ava.” I chuckle under my breath, and she narrows her eyes on me, clearly not liking my answer.

“Actually, yes, you will.” She crosses her arms over her chest. “Did you think I didn’t hear you talking to your boss this morning about covering the cost of having the truck parked at your place for the past week? I’ve already called to take care of it while you were moving everything in, and you’ll take the money too.”

“You did what?”

“You heard me. Now take the damn money, Colter.”

I growl, turning to push her bedroom door shut and stalk toward her. She’s not the least bit intimidated by me, though, and she doesn’t back down.

“I said I don’t want your damn money, now put that shit away.” She raises her brow, and I bend down, lifting her in my arms.
