A soft sigh escapes my lips like the sound of surrender, like the sound of claiming defeat. I've just witnessed my worst nightmare come to life.
Or perhaps it isn't a nightmare.
After all, it was in those dreams of the handsome stranger that I truly found myself. Unleashed my true essence as a sensual being whose only qualm was the ribbed talons of an unknown being.
The fall is liberating because it's the most free I've felt since arriving here. Though I'm unconscious, my subconscious mind feels the effects of the fall.
How unfettered it feels to finally be outside the four walls that have kept me shackled for days.
I completely surrender, giving up my inhibitions as I accept what I've just witnessed. Draco, the man I'd conjured in my dreams, is a shape-shifter who can take on the form of a dragon.
At least I know I'm not crazy anymore.
And when my body no longer feels like it's falling, I'm content knowing it was all worth it in the end.
The truth sets me free.
The warmth surrounding me gives me the kind of safety net I need to open my eyes. When I do, the gold-scaled dragon holds me in his arms.
It's not fear that encompasses my being. It's a relief. And even if I'm being carried to the gates of my eternal destination, I do so gladly.
There's nowhere else I'd rather be.
The smile on my face remains everlasting as I sigh contentedly. Closing my eyes, I relish in the comfort of strong arms around my frame. As if I'm featherlight.
Whatever happens next, I accept wholeheartedly. Perhaps my demise from the tip of the ledge isn't so bad after all.

When I open my eyes again, I'm staring into the face of my perpetrator.
Or my savior if what happened wasn't a dream at all.
“Draco…” I murmur, his lips so close to mine I feel the vibrations of the echo of my voice reverberate from his lips. It sends a pleasant chill down my spine as I lay on an unfamiliar bed.
My eyes dart around quickly, and I realize I'm in Draco's bedroom. The one I'd stolen into earlier tonight. My sense of time is clear. All the puzzle pieces seem to fit perfectly together, creating a picture of truth.
Everything is crystal clear in my mind.
“Lily,” comes Draco's husky response against my lips.
Gulping from the sensations it elicits as it sparks awareness that courses to my core, I stare into his eyes.
The hazel depths become rimmed with gold circles reminiscent of his dragon eyes. Tiny flecks of ruby particles illuminate his natural color. It gives it an allure of sensuality and…
Lust?
Ever since I've met him, I've been anything but brave. It was fear that had me denying the truth. And ignoring the apparent warning signs. My gut instinct—warning me that my attraction isn't just all in my head.
Even if he is part human and part dragon. The pull is undeniable, and I can’t ignore it any longer.
It isn’t fear that spurs my next move. It’s the most unabashed courage that has me sliding my fingers through Draco’s hair, lifting myself forward until my lips press to his.
The plushness of his lips on mine feels divine. Like the luscious gardens of the Heavenly abode, it draws me in until I fully surrender to the promised treasures at the end of the rainbow. With little coercion, I part my lips with a sigh as Draco’s tongue slips in. His unintrusive exploration tantalizes my taste buds, and I hum between kisses as I pull him onto me.
As he settles his weight between my thighs, he breaks the kiss to stare into my face. My bottom lip trembles with the sensations of the kiss that lingers there. His eyes are jetted now, glossed over with lust.
“Is this what you want?” he asks softly, one hand lifting to cradle my face. With the pad of his thumb, he smooths my cheek, caressing my skin like he’s coaxing me.
