“Good,” he purrs. The sound rumbles from him, and I want to bury my face into the crook of his neck and climb into his lap to feel it in every part of my body.
I take a third bite, each one feeling like something more than just eating. A needy feeling spreads in my lower belly, and my sweet perfume seeps out past my fading lotion. I should really take a pill every morning instead of sporadically.
He doesn’t give any sign that he can smell me as he continues to purr and feed me at the same time. I take the final bite of his sandwich, his fingers brushing my lips in the process, and a low growl rumbles from his throat. His pupils have dilated, blown wide, as if feeding me has turned him on as much as touching me or kissing me would have.
I swallow the last mouthful and stare at him openly. My heart flips in my chest, and butterflies flutter in my stomach. My whole body is like a live wire, waiting for one tiny touch before exploding.
My eyes dip to his lips, and they part on a soft exhale. Bringing my gaze up to his, I find him looking at my mouth. My tongue darts out, tasting the leftover crumbs of the food he fed me. I’m pretty sure he’s going to kiss me, and I hold still, waiting for him to make the move.
The rest of the room fades completely into the background. It no longer feels as if we are in a dining hall surrounded by at least a hundred other students. Nothing besides him matters.
“Rin, I’m going to kiss you.”
CHAPTER 16
Matt
This omega, she has my heart and soul. Rin is my world. I watch as she takes the last bite, chewing thoughtfully. Every single atom inside my body wants to go get more food to feed her.
My eyes dip to her lips, watching as they part, her pink tongue darting over them. My breath catches, and my heart lodges in my throat. I need to kiss her.
“Rin, I’m going to kiss you,” I say, my thumb coming up to trace the side of her face, cradling her cheek.
Her eyes flutter shut, and I study her for a moment before softly pressing my lips to hers. She melts into me, and I groan, gathering her closer. Deepening the kiss, I taste her like a decadent dessert on my tongue.
I’m never letting her go again. She is mine.
Her fingers gather up my shirt, bunching it into her hands, attempting to get closer to me. When I finally pull back, she’s almost in my lap and would be if the table wasn’t in the way. Other students watch us like we are putting on a show, and I want to shield her from their eyes. Her pink cheeks and kiss swollen lips are perfect, and for me only.
I scoot out of the booth, grabbing up my tray, and hold my hand out for her. “Come on, let’s get out of here.”
She places her fingers in mine, and I help her up, dropping off my tray before heading for the exit. The sun is still up, so I turn toward the nature walk the university has. Not many other people will be there, and I’ll have her to myself. My inner alpha craves alone time with her. Even knowing my pack deserves this, too, doesn’t stop me.
I slow my pace as we get deeper into the trail, the sounds of nature surrounding us in a comforting symphony. The silence between us isn’t heavy or awkward as we leave the sounds of the small university behind. A bench sits to the right of the trail, and I lead her to it, sitting down before tugging her into my lap.
She lets out a surprised laugh. “Matt–”
“Rin,” I answer as my arms wrap securely around her waist, and I drop a kiss to her forehead. “I need to hold you.”
She melts into me again, and it makes me start purring for her. “I missed you.”
Fearing I’m going to squeeze the life out of her at her words, I loosen my hold and brush my fingers over her cheek, tilting her face up to mine.
“You’ll never have to miss me again because you are officially stuck with me.” I want to kiss her again, and I drop my gaze to her mouth in anticipation. “Is it okay that I am holding you, that I want to taste your lips again?”
She nods silently, her arms circling my neck, before she presses her soft lips to mine. I drown in her. The taste of vanilla with soft undertones of a rich cake are a more vibrant hit of her muted perfume. It’s enough to make me shift her on my lap, her legs landing on each side of my hips, and pulling her forward. I need to be closer. My fingers flex into her hips, and she whimpers into our kiss.
Control slips through my fingers, and I suddenly wish we had gone back to the dorm instead of here where anyone can walk up on us. That single thought yanks me back into myself. I don’t want to overwhelm her, and sex isn’t the only thing I want from her. I break the kiss slowly, dropping soft pecks to her lips as I draw back. Her fingers curl into my hair at the base of my neck as she brings her eyes up to mine.
The soft pink of her blush lights up my imagination about the other areas that would look beautiful flushed. I groan and set her on her feet between my knees.
“God, Rin, I want you,” I say, my hands lingering on her hips. My fingers flex into her soft flesh, and I almost pull her back onto my lap. My control is shaky at best. “But that isn’t what all of this is about. I want to know you again like we did as kids. But you are it for me, and you should know I’m committed fully, no matter what. Pack or no pack.”
She smiles sadly, her hand coming up to cup my cheek. “Matty, I’m never going to tear your pack apart.”
“No, you are going to be the glue that holds us together.” I press my hand over hers, keeping her touch on me, as my eyes shut. I want to soak up everything she has to offer like a dry sponge with water.
“You might be giving me too much credit. I think the others might want me physically, but not so much on the emotional level.” She looks at her feet and scuffs her shoe over the pebbles on the trail.
