Grace stops walking and looks up at me, then shifts back to her human form. I immediately take off my tee-shirt and put it on her. “Hunter was okay. I guess my best explanation was he was a placeholder.” Shrugging her shoulders, she grips my hand and allows me to lead her further into the woods. “I didn’t love him. I just didn’t want to be alone.” Her melancholy tone pulls at my heart and I draw her into my side, under my arm.
“The guys and I had a similar experience. Hence why Roxy and I guess Leah went a bit nuts. They knew the score. They weren’t our mates and we wouldn’t settle for less.” Part of me feels I need to be completely honest about the past with her. The other part keeps yelling at me to shut up.
I watch Grace nod along with what I’m saying, and I do not know if it’s a good or bad thing. “Bitches be crazy…” she says and shrugs her shoulders, heading towards the meadow filled with flowers.
“Huh?” I jog to catch up with her. Her words had stunned me to the point I didn’t realize I had stopped walking.
“Girls do just as much stupid shit as guys do. My ex, for example, tried killing me to get me to have another baby with him. Roxy, who is Griffin’s ex, tried killing me to get him back. Leah probably is plotting my demise as we speak.” She shrugs her shoulders and shakes her head. “Even if they manage to kill me, they won’t get what they want. If what you mother told me is correct, you four will die with me unless I sever the bonds before I die.”
There is how mom managed to live beyond dad’s death. He released her so that the pack would still have a Luna. It was a selfless and selfish move, all in the same breath. In one sense, he cursed his mate to live alone forever without him. He also gave her the opportunity to watch over her family and any grand babies that may come. “I don’t know if I’m mad at my father or happy he did what he did.”
“Shh…” Her finger comes up and covers my lips, silencing me. “Unless there are children, I die when you die. Don’t you dare release me to mourn you for eternity.” Her wolf flairs to life in her eyes, and I feel the push of its power.
“I promise.” Soon as the words left my lips, she leaps up into my arms and wraps her legs tightly around my waistline. She nuzzles my neck and nips at my earlobe.
“Make me yours completely, Griff. Bite me, make me your mate forever.” She grips my face tightly, locking eyes with me.
Don’t fuck this up. My wolf says and growls low in the recesses of my mind.
Leaning forward, I press my lips to hers, kissing her, hoping to push all of my love to her. Wolves don’t know the meaning of love, but they know undying loyalty and the strength of the bond is imperative for a powerful union. A switch must have flipped in Grace because she attacks my lips, drinking from them like she’s dying from thirst. Her hands are all over me, touching, grabbing and pulling at me.
“I need you Griff…” A whine escapes her lips and my wolf surges to the forefront.
We drop to the ground with her cradled in my arms. The minute her back hits the moss, my hands go to my belt and pants, trying to free myself. Grace breaks the kiss and starts nibbling along my collarbone, making my cock pulse and leak in my pants. I rid myself of the offending material and lunge forward, hitting my knot against her soaked entrance. Moaning loudly, her teeth grip my skin harder, tearing through in spots.
The early flutters of her core around my length make me snap my hips harder and faster, picking up the tempo. Between Grace’s moans and the sound of skin slapping, I feel my balls drawing up. The build of my orgasm drives me to impale Grace upon my knot, locking her in place as my seed shoots deep within her, and sink my teeth into her shoulder. She curls up further and sinks her canines into my shoulder. Leaning back, I take her with me as I wrap both arms around her ribs.
The warmth of the bond washes over us, setting off several smaller orgasms for the two of us. She uses this seated position to her advantage and rocks her hips more, sending shockwaves between the two of us. It’s an amazing feeling having my mate fully bonded to me. I wish it wasn’t such a quick mating. I’ll have to revisit this later and take my time. We don’t have as much time as I would have liked, but whatever I can get with her is a blessing.
Slowly, my knot deflates and slides free from her welcoming depths. A giggle escapes her lips, and she nuzzles me. “What’s so funny?” Now she’s got me curious.
“The big bad Alpha didn’t make me submit.” Gracie winks at me then shifts and takes off, running back towards the pack houses.
Motherfucker I didn’t. Losing your touch … My wolf mocks me, pointing out I missed doing the one thing I should have.
Standing on jello legs, I root around searching for my clothing. When I finally find everything and slip on the tee-shirt Grace was wearing, I discover it’s soaked from when she had sat down. Her pheromones flood my senses, making me hard all over again. There is definitely not enough time to shower again and fuck her before the ceremony.
I fight the painful boner that’s in my pants and walk back to where I had left Ethan. The smirk he’s wearing makes me want to punch him square in the face. “How was your talk?” He’s grinning from ear to ear and I still want to knock him out.
“It went well, asshole.” I growl out.
“I can see that.” He touches the spot that Grace had bitten and his finger comes away covered in blood.
Huffing out a laugh, I shake my head and look at the blood I can see. “She forgot to seal the wound, that’s all.” I pull my collar down and lick my fingertip and press it to the holes Grace had left. When I have them sealed, I pull the shirt over my head and carry it back to the pack house.
On the walk back, the locals watch me move past them. It’s not normal for me to walk through town like this and the others are taking notice. Some females cry seeing the angry red mark from Grace’s bite. Others smile and wave, congratulating me on my successful mating.
Walking through the front door, my mother’s eyes land on my shoulder and she’s positively beaming. “Feel better?” Mom pours me a cup of coffee and hands it to me.
Taking the magical bean juice, I stare down into its black depths, pondering the mysteries of the universe. “I do when it comes to Grace, but not with the amount of dangers she’s about to face.” The list of potential dangers that are mounting is adding to my stress level.
“Do you want the girls and I to teach her how to fight as a wolf? We have about two hours before the presentation.” Mom arches a brow, looking at me, then over at Grace as she steps into view from the hallway.
“She already asked, didn’t she?” My eyes drift over to my mate and she lowers her head.
A firm grip holds my jaw hostage and my mother forces me to look her in the eye. “Grace wasn’t born into this life, just like I wasn’t.” Mom jabs a finger in Grace’s direction. “She deserves better.” Mom’s wolf flairs to life and I feel like I’m six years old all over again, being sent to my room for stealing a cookie.
Lithe fingers trace the muscles of my biceps. “Please Griff, I really want to know how to fight and not die.” The broken look on her face makes my heart clench in my chest. The furrowed brows and quivering bottom lip breaks my resolve and I turn and pull her flush against my bare chest.
