Here goes one of the most scary nights of my life.

Chapter 24

Grace

~Popular Monster - Falling in Reverse~

-One week later-

Pain … All I feel is pain and heat. My bones ache, and it feels like someone put my muscles through a meat grinder. My blood feels like an electrical current has set it on fire. Every single inch of my body throbs in time with my heartbeat, even my hair hurts. All I remember after being abducted is Roxy throwing me to a wolf that looked like my ex. My next memories are of me screaming as I watch my skin being rended from my body.

Hunter stood naked over me, screaming. “Why isn’t it working?”

Roxy stood next to him, her hands sliding over his naked flesh till she grips his cock. “Maybe one of them is a mate of hers?” The statement earns Roxy a slap across her face, sending her flying.

The next clear image I remember is a smoke gray wolf charging in and standing over me. I think he was protecting me. Two black wolves arrive next, then a third, and it’s all out war. Ethan is the next and last thing I see. His warmth and love soothe my fear away. The darkness overtakes me and I succumb to sleep.

I’m not sure how many days I’ve drifted in this limbo. Warm bodies move and trade out places beside me. The scents help me identify who is lying next to me. I know they called a doctor, and he started an IV of fluids, so I would remain hydrated. They also stuck a feeding tube down my nose because my body needed the calories to speed up the healing process. The words and sentences drift in and out and not a lot is making sense from what I can piece together. I need to see my daughter. I hope she’s safe. Why won’t my body respond? I need to move; I need to get to my baby.

“Gracie?” I hear Barrett’s stressed and pain filled tone and something deep within me whines. “GUYS! Get in here!”I feel him pull the tube from my nose and it makes me whine again.

Did I make that noise? If I did, why did I?

You’re not alone anymore. We are one. A mysterious voice says to me.Its soft soothing tone smooths away some of the fear I had from it speaking.

I want to question who or what it is. But my gut tells me I already know the answer. They have given me a wolf. They must have done to save my life.

Very good human, or should I say Luna? The voice says again, and the blackened background slowly illuminates. An almost pure silver wolf emerges and reveals its self. It’s time to wake up. Our mates and our child are waiting for us. There’s a sudden surge of urgency that floods my system. It’s now that I can feel the guys and Ashina as if they are a physical part of me. Running towards my wolf, I drop to my knees and hug her tightly. There’s an intense heat and a flash of light.

“Guys, she’s waking up.” Conrad’s tone pulls me the rest of the way back to them.

Struggling, I try to force my eyes open and sit up. “Take it easy, baby girl. You’ve been asleep a long time.” Griffin looks like he’s aged years in that time.

“How … long?” Spitting out the question took more effort than I was expecting.

“A week.” The way Barrett says it makes me whine again.

Only this time, I feel the noise in my throat. Eyes wide, I look around and feel an intense itch under my skin. It’s like the time mom found out I was allergic to the one detergent and I wanted to claw my skin from my body. My skin feels as if it’s moving on its own and my bones are aching. All the joints in my body feel like they are on fire. Everything either itches, hurts, or burns. This can’t be normal. My heart pounds in my chest as panic sets in. Gritting my teeth, I bare them at everything. I’m scared and in pain, I’ve never felt this kind of pain before in my life. I don’t know if I want to tear things apart or hide in the closet until it goes away.

“Sweetness, you need to calm down.” Conrad holds his hands up in a placating manner.

“I can’t! Make it stop!” Screaming my frustration, I arch my back as the pain intensifies. Panic has fully set in and then the worst thing possible happens. Ashina’s pup cries in the other room. My body feels like it’s being torn to pieces as my bones pop and my skin feels like someone is trying to rip it off of me. My blood is on fire as I try to get free of the blankets and wobble on all fours to the end of the bed.

Falling to the floor was the easy part. The fact that I have lost most of my color vision and things look really weird from this angle isn’t helping. Trying to move forward, I hear a click click click. Looking down, I see silver paws and long claws. I scoot backwards, frightened by my discovery. The wolf thing wasn’t a fever addled dream. I can see particles of dust in the air and hear my daughter clearly in the other room. Each of the guy’s heart beats are clear to me. My eyes dart all around the room, trying to process what the actual fuck has happened.

Their mom, the current pack Luna, sits on the floor near the door to the bedroom. “Come here child, let me help you learn about your new body and pass on the knowledge of the Luna.”

On wobbly legs, I stand up and fall over several times before I can slowly close the distance between us and she smiles. “You’re doing much better than I did when I shifted for the first time. I puked.” She laughs at the memory as I look around the house, studying it.

“Ethan, shift since you’re the one that turned her to save her. She needs her fully bonded mate now more than ever.” The command in her voice shocks me. Normally the Luna is very reserved and quiet. Raising my head in shock, I turn to look over at Ethan as he strips.Something deep within in me wants to growl and bare its teeth at his mother. The more reasonable side forces the anger to subside and I wait to see what happens next.

Ethan shifts quickly and approaches slowly. He stops a foot away, and my wolf wants to approach him. Unsteady steps carry me forward and eventually I rest my body against his. The urge to rub my face along his body is intense. The minute I do it, the more settled I feel. All of my instincts scream at me to roll over and give him my belly.

The click of the front door sounds like it’s in front of me. Ashina comes scurrying back into the room and runs and hides under Ethan and me. Instincts be damned, I growl and stalk forward, putting myself between the threat and my child. A female I don’t know arrives in the doorway. My muscles bunch as I prepare to attack.

The Luna steps between me and the female. “Damn it Leah, I told you she’s a newly turned wolf with a pup. What the hell are you thinking?”

Griffin comes and sits beside me and starts running his fingers through my fur. “You will make a good Luna, baby girl.” Griffin nuzzles the side of my face with his.
