Not sleeping. Lying wide awake. I needed the comfort.

Goddess, he groans. You are killing me.

Should I tell you I’m wearing your clothes, too?

A groan makes my core twitch. I can’t wait to hold you.

Then, all of a sudden, warmth spreads around me, and the sheets turn from cold to a luscious hug. I snuggle my head into the pillow with a heavy smile. Are you doing that?

Yes.

How?

Our bond. I’m using my energy to charge the sparks that connect us. It’ll stay warm enough for you to fall asleep.

So you’re actually heating me from the inside out?

Essentially, yes.

Thank you.

Does it feel better now?

So much, I admit.

Dream of me, baby. I’m always dreaming of you.

JAXON

Ihad already planned out what would happen when I came into contact with Lucien. I told myself I’d remain calm and do everything necessary to stick to the mission ahead. But now I’m staring at him from across the grand hall—chaos breaking out around us—and all I want to do is rip his throat out with my teeth.

Getting into their pack territory was too easy. They think they’re bulletproof, but they’re lazy idiots who didn’t see this attack coming. Panic erupted, and I’ve never been so joyous to hear the sound of true fear.

Blood splatters across the granite floor, limbs and organs following in its wake. I trained my pack well. I trained my pack to kill. None of them will let me down. My only wish is to keep the Alpha and Beta alive for my personal entertainment.

Lucien’s dark eyes are misty and full of hatred. I growl at his presence and remind myself if I kill him, it’ll ruin our entire plan. But when I look at him, I think about all the tears Ava has shed, the times she’s purposely hurt herself, all of the pain she’s been through.

I launch into action, darting towards him in my shifted form. My legs move so quickly that he barely has time to jump out of the way. I clamp my sharp canines around his leg and drag him to the floor.

My jaw bites down, and blood seeps out of his wound and into my mouth. He screams in pain.

Good. I want to make him beg for his pathetic life.

A quick death is too kind for someone like him. He deserves hours and hours of torture until there is barely anything left of him. I bite harder, almost ripping his leg off.

Stop. Kayden’s voice echoes through my mind. Don’t kill him. I know how badly you want to, but we’ve got bigger plans ahead. Remember them, Jaxon. Don’t let your anger win right now.

A snarl rips from my throat as I pull away, blood dribbling down the fur on my chin. I’m on the verge of letting my wolf go, but I keep control of his actions by masking them with my own emotions. He’s bloodthirsty. He wants the fucker dead now. But I want revenge. I want true justice for Ava.

Lucien squirms against the floor, clutching his wounded leg. A puff of air rushes through my snout in his direction. Wrap him up in silver, I tell Kayden. Get him out of my sight before I kill him.

You got it, Alpha.

I turn around to find the majority of Lucien’s wolves dead. Sebastian is downstairs in the basement, helping girls who have been chained up and used for Lucien’s sick desires.

We’ve got the Beta out here, Kayden informs me.
