She’s a wolf. She’s been a wolf this entire time.

Ava, I shoot to her mind. My knees almost snap at the look she gives me.

Perfect. She’s beyond perfect. She’s mine.

I move towards her and kneel in front of my Luna. My fingers slide through her fur as she nuzzles her face into mine. Her scent of warm chestnut and vanilla infiltrates my veins, and I gladly inhale. It’s stronger than ever. My eyes almost roll behind my lids at the way it makes me tremble.

Hey. Her voice is quiet.

I crack a smile. Hey.

Guess what?

Ava’s fur is so damn soft I can’t get enough. My fingers massage through her skin, and she licks my chin. I release a thick breath of gratification. I never knew my heart could feel this full.

What?

I stare into those honey eyes and realise that she’s completely stolen my heart and run away with it.

I’m a werewolf.

A large grin spreads across my face. No shit, baby. Not just any werewolf. A badass white wolf with golden features. Beautiful. So fucking beautiful.

She presses her soft forehead against mine, and the strands of her fur tickle, but I don’t move. I savour this moment. My eyes close at the same time hers do. My wolf howls in approval and acceptance.

I’m so happy, she whispers through my mind.

Our bond connects on a level I never knew it could reach. Heights beyond my belief, but I welcome all of it with wide arms because it’s ours, and it’s perfect.

AVA

My ankles are submerged in mild water. The bottom of the lake is clear, and fish swim around my feet. I release a soft chuckle as they tickle my skin. My head tilts towards the sunset as it sits perfectly along the horizon.

I open my lungs and take down the fresh air. A presence behind me makes me tingle, but I’m not afraid. My head looks over my shoulder to be met with luminous eyes and long white hair. I relax.

“Ava.” She reaches out to touch my cheek.

My eyes close at the sensation that washes over my skin.

I remember her from my dream before. She came back.

“You’re here.”

When I open my eyes, she nods, and I study the pretty markings on her face. A triangle with circles glimmer across her forehead, and her eyelashes are a metallic blue. She takes my face between her warm hands, and I exhale a breath of relief.

“Do not forget your power.”

I frown. “What power?”

“Do not forget the strength inside your soul.”

“What do you mean?”

She offers me a sweet smile. “I would never want you to forget that you are a force to be reckoned with, Ava.”

“I’m trying. I’ve got a lot to learn,” I admit.
