“Why not?”
“If you know the things that I see, you’d know for sure I have a target on my back.”
“We will protect you. You have our club protection.”
She laughs. “It doesn’t work like that.”
“Look, Ghost, or whatever your name is. We need you to come to the clubhouse with us. We need to find Meg before it’s too late. If we can get a van here and get you inside it without anyone seeing you, will you come then?”
I watch as her eyes close and she’s clearly thinking. I don’t understand why she thinks that someone is after her, but I know that I will protect her. She is our only way to get a chance at finding Meg. I just hope it’s not too late.
She shakes her head. “Okay. But I have rules and I know you might find them strange, but they’ve kept me alive so far.”
Ramsey pulls out his phone and calls Knuckles. “Hey, Knuckles. We need a van over here. I’ll send you an address. We’ve got Ghost and we are bringing her in. She is going to work with Brax, but she needs to go in the back of the van.” He’s quiet for a moment. “We’ll explain later, just get the van here.” He hangs up and sends the address to Brax.
We watch as Ghost packs a bag with some laptops and some other things that I have no idea what they are. When we hear a knock at the door, we move towards it.
“When I get outside, I want you to shield me. I need to lock the door.”
“I’ll do it for you.”
She shakes her head and laughs. “Thanks, but I need to know that I’ve locked it myself or I’ll be getting someone to bring me back in an hour.”
We walk in front of her and make sure no one can see her behind our backs. She’s so tiny, they wouldn’t be able to anyway. Ramsey and I are both well over six foot tall.
Knuckles is watching us, and he frowns, wondering what we are doing. We hear not just one but about five locks being closed including one that sounds like there are seven bolts inside the door.
When she turns, she pokes me in the back. “Let’s go.”
We move to the van and Knuckles has the side door open, we move aside, and she walks between us and slips into the back of the van. Me and Ramsey climb inside and slam the door shut. Knuckles gets in the front. He turns in his seat. “Ready?” His eyes wash over Ghost, and I’m sure I see a spark of interest in them.
“Yeah, let’s roll. Let’s find Meg.”
Chapter 2
Meghan
Forty-two days, six hours and twenty minutes. That’s how long I’ve been in this place. Counting the time is the only thing that gets me through the day. That and thinking about Cash and Ramsey. I hate that we only got started and Ricky took me. I was so looking forward to seeing where our relationship went.
Every day Ricky comes into this dark room. Every day he grabs me by my hair and pulls me across the room and into another room. I’ve lost chunks of my hair and I’m surprised I have any left for him to pull at. “Fuck you, Ricky.”
He just sniggers. “Not this again, babe. You know I hate you cursing.”
I can’t help myself; I have to dig at him. If he’s going to break my spirit, then I need to fight back and, at the moment, the only thing I can use are my words.
“Fuck you.”
He pulls me into the middle of the room. This one is not as dark, there’s a bed as well. Even though I know what he’s going to do to me, the thought that I might get a couple of hours sleep afterwards on the bed, makes up for it. The rest I can block out.
He grabs hold of my arm and pulls me up to standing. Then he turns me around and pushes me against the wall. “Your precious Black Saints haven’t found you yet. I bet they’ve forgotten all about you and moved on. They obviously don’t think much of you, babe.”
I hate that he’s right. They’ve not heard anything from the Black Saints asking for me back, a trade or anything. It’s been silent. Have they forgotten me? I can’t believe Tyler isn’t breaking down every door to find me. What about Cash and Ramsey? Are they bothered to look for me? I can’t allow myself to think that they’ve given up.
“They’ll find me. I know they will.”
“You keep telling yourself that, darling. I will kill anyone who comes to find you.”
We are interrupted by a knock at the door. No one else usually comes in here when I’m with Ricky.
