We step inside the room that we call church and I know that Razor is going to make an example of me and Ramsey for going against him. We are prepared to take whatever punishment is given because it meant we brought her home.
“First off, it’s great to welcome Meg back home. I think I can speak for everyone around here when I say how happy we are she’s alive and back here.” Everyone in the room thumps the table and hollers.
“Second, Cash and Ramsey, you disobeyed strict instructions to stay put until the weather changed. There is punishment for disobeying my orders. However, if you hadn’t disobeyed them then I’m sure Meg would be dead. So, this is the one and only time that I am going to let that slide.”
“Thanks, Razor. We had to get to our woman.” I can’t explain how I felt knowing that she was in the hands of a monster.
“Yes, thanks Razor.” Ramsey is a bit quieter than me. He is usually a stickler for the rules.
“Third, we need to decide what we do next. Do we wait out the weather and then go to them, or do we draw them over here where we have the backup and firepower that we need?” Razor looks around the room.
I stand. “I think we need to draw them out here. It won’t happen until the weather changes, but we need to be ready for them to come on our turf. We can control the situation better.”
“Agreed.” Everyone around the table shouts. I sit down.
“So, what’s the plan?” Razor looks at everyone.
“We need to get a message to Ricky saying we want Meg back. Make him think that we don’t have her. When they go looking for her, we can get the receptionist to tell them that she got the first bus or train out of there and she was heading home. They might decide that they can get to her before we can – because we don’t know she’s on her way home.” Ramsey looks at me.
I nod my head. It’s a good plan.
Razor takes the lead. “Right. Braxton, can you get a message to Ricky, we have his number.”
“Prez, you could ring him and tell him that if they don’t bring her home, we’re going for them.” Brax looks at Razor.
“Good idea, get that number and I’ll ring straight after church.”
“Shadow, I need you to get all the firepower we need to make sure we don’t leave any of those bastards standing.”
“On it.” Shadow is our enforcer, and he has the guns and weapons that we need in these situations. They are locked up just in case we’re raided, and they all have to be accounted for when they are returned.
We finalize the details and I go to call the receptionist to get her buy-in – after the way she treated Meghan she will be only too happy to help out.
Razor bangs his hand on the table. “Church is over.”
Ramsey opens the door and waits for me to leave. As I step outside, Razor booms across the clubhouse, “Prospects.”
I watch as the two prospects; Ryder and Tate, come over to stand in front of Razor. “Yes, Prez.”
“We are going on lockdown. It’s your responsibility to make sure all the old ladies, club pussy and everyone’s families are here. Tell them they’re on lockdown for the foreseeable and there are no excuses.”
“Yes, Prez.” I watch as they walk away, I remember when Ramsey and I prospected for the club.
“Do you remember those days?”
Ramsey smiles. “Thank fuck we got past that and got patched in. Tough times.”
We go to our room to see Meg. It’s been too long since we had her in our arms.
When I walk in and see her on our bed, my heart races. I don’t think she knows what she does to me. “Hey, baby.” I move closer to her and kiss her on the cheek. Her eyes light up and I know that she’s pleased to see us.
“Hey, guys.” Her voice is croaky from her short sleep.
Someone clears their throat and that’s when I see Rosie in the chair, watching Meg.
“I’ll leave you alone. I just wanted to stay to keep her company.”
“Thanks, Rosie. Just so you know we are on lockdown. So, you’d better get your ass downstairs and see Razor. He’s going to want you to stay here and not go to work.”
