My stomach grumbles and I laugh. “I think I’ll take some of that food now.” We all sit up and Cash reaches out for the menu.
“Order whatever you want.”
Looking through it, I don’t know what I want most. “I’ll have some pancakes and bacon and maple syrup. Some coffee and some French toast.”
“Sweet tooth, I see.” Ramsey laughs. The two men in my life are really well sculpted. They work out every day and don’t usually eat anything bad for them.
Cash picks up the phone and orders our food, I laugh when he orders the same as I got for both him and Ramsey.
I sit back against the bed head and prepare to tell my story.
“He told me he was going to kill all the people I cared about. I had to sacrifice myself to save all of you.”
Chapter 7
Ramsey
“No, you didn’t. We would have got to him first.”
She ignores me. “When he dragged me into the car, he stuck a needle in my arm, and I passed out. When I woke a few hours later we were driving over the mountains. It wasn’t snowing then, and it was beautiful, but when he saw I was awake, he punched me in the face. My nose bled and I passed out again. This time when I came around, I was in a dark room with no windows and only a mattress on the floor.”
She takes a deep breath and my heart breaks for her. “You don’t have to tell us everything in one go. We can wait to hear more when you’re ready.”
“No. I need to get it out there so that I can move on from it.”
“So brave.” Cash takes her hand and squeezes it in his.
“The first time he came to the room he hit me, kicked me and I know he was trying to break my spirit because that’s what he did before. I was stronger this time though. I had something to fight for. I had you two.”
I reach out and take her other hand, bringing it to my lips. “You sure do.”
The room is silent while she thinks some more. “Every morning he brought me out of the room into his bedroom.”
I look over at Cash and I know the two of us are tense because she’s looking at us. We relax our hands.
“He beat me with his belt, buckle end, to keep me there with him. He made sure I was too weak to run anywhere and the fact that it was snowing didn’t help either.” She looks down at us both holding her hands. “He raped me.” She sobs.
Both Cash and I move closer to her, and both wrap an arm around her shoulder. She seems to calm when we sandwich her between both of us.
“He made me do things that I’d never do. He broke me.”
“No, he didn’t. You’re not broken. You got away from him and you found your way home. We know it’s going to be hard, but you’re safe now and we won’t let anything happen to you.” I kiss her on the cheek. “We love you.”
“I know. I didn’t want him to have sex with me, the first time he beat me until I was nearly unconscious but not quite and then he forced himself on me.” She sobs again. Then she seems to take a deep breath. “I had to lose myself at those times and I thought about you two and what I had to come home to. You helped me out during those dark times.”
“We will always help you out, baby.” Cash’s eyes darken and I know that he is feeling the same way as me about all of this. We hurt because she’s hurting, but the difference is we have the opportunity to make sure that he never hurts anyone else again.”
“If he gets me again, I know he will kill me.” She looks up into my eyes. “Don’t let him take me again.” I watch as the silent tears roll down her face. With my thumb I wipe them and lean down and kiss her on the lips, very gently. Just letting her know how much I love her without saying anything.
I pull away because she needs time to heal before anything happens. We just want to spend the time with her helping her to heal inside and out.
Meg falls asleep between us. Cash looks at me. “He’s fucking dead. No one does that and gets away with it.” His anger is radiating off him. His brows are pinched, and his voice is tight.
“Absolutely, but we have a problem. We either stay here and face him on our own and leave Meg vulnerable in the hotel, bearing in mind if something happens to us then she’s here on her own. Or we try and get across the mountain to our brothers who will have our back and can help us bring Ricky down.”
“I think we should try and get home. Meg needs to see the Doc and we need to plan this attack; I don’t want to go into it half assed and the fucker gets away again.”
“I hear you brother. Let’s ring Razor.”
