“What do you mean?” I was confused.

“Graham makes all the desserts served at Root 245 for Giorgio. I gave him your ring, and he embedded it between the layers of the individual portion he made for you. And with decaf coffee to boot.”

“Damn, you’re good,” I said before climbing back on top of him.

“You haven’t seen anything yet, babe. Wait until you see what happens tomorrow.” Hunter's eyes sparkled with love laced with mischief.

I’ll say it again, never boring. And boy, he did not disappoint me on Saturday.

Chapter 20

Sage

I woke up late Saturday morning to the smell of pancakes wafting through the air. They were the one thing Hunter could make without burning.

“Wake up, babe,” he called as he brought me breakfast in bed. “You need to feed yourself and the baby before our day gets started.”

“Oh god, what have you got planned for me today? You thoroughly wore me out last night, babe. There’s not another drop of cum left in me.”

Hunter laughed. “ Well, that’s good because we don’t need it today. Well, not yet, at least. Eat up, then let’s shower.”

The eager beaver disguised as my fiance proved me right when he promised to take care of me. After we showered, Hunter drove me into town. His first surprise of the day was the reservation he had made for a couples massage for us to enjoy.

We were both massaged, shaved, and exfoliated. Our skin was radiant after the three-hour experience, and my energy was restored.

Our next stop was the diner, where we had a late lunch and told Papa our good news. To say he was excited was an understatement. He called my Dad and over with Clay in tow. We had a celebratory piece of peanut butter pie. Hunter insisted I get extra protein, and the peanut butter would do the job.

I was stuffed and ready for a nap by the time we made it back to Hunter’s house. We made a quick stop at the baby store to look around at baby furniture. Hunter was eager to get our lives in order before the baby’s arrival.

“I think we have plenty of time to get the nursery set up. I’m only 6 weeks along, and we don’t have to rush.” There was no reasoning with him sometimes.

“I know we do, but I don’t want to wait. I've already waited over ten years for you since high school, and I don’t want to waste a single minute of life with you.”

Gods, he made me so happy.

“Okay, babe, I understand. I want that too,” I reassured him.

Hunter let out an obvious breath, then added. “Sage, I don’t want to wait to get married. I want to do it as soon as possible. Would you be okay with that?”

I looked up into the eyes of the man I wanted to spend my life with. “Yeah, babe, I want that too. The sooner, the better. The truth is, I don’t sleep well without you. My body has become accustomed to your warmth. You bring me peace and calm when I'm with you.”

Hunter tilted his forehead to rest against mine before he placed a feather-like kiss on my lips. He knew anything more than a mere brush of the lips would stoke my fire.

“You rest now. I’ve got some things to catch up on in my office. Oh, I made another reservation for us for dinner, so we will need to dress up a bit."

“But I didn’t bring anything other than what I wore last night. I guess I can wear it again?”

“You can get something out of the closet to wear,” he suggested.

“Hunter, all I have are the things in the bag I brought, remember?”

“Oh yeah, did I forget to tell you I had your Dad bring all your clothes and things over here while we were out? Oops, my bad.” He grinned at me like a freakin’ loon.

All I could do was shake my head at him. I didn’t have the energy to fight him on it anymore.

“Fine, I give up. You win. I’m going to sleep now.”

“That’s a good idea, babe.” The fucker smirked at me again.
