She sits in the chair beside my bed. “Yeah, fine.”

“Well, I’m planning to move home eventually. I’ll keep you updated with any changes. But Jeremy has started changing part of his house to accommodate my arrival.”

“I bet. I’ve never seen a more gutted guy than when he visited you.”

I run my hands through my hair and wince. “I can’t imagine why he didn’t run. My hair is so greasy. I can’t wait to shower. I feel disgusting.”

“Minus your hair, which is a bit oily, I’m not going to lie. You look surprisingly well,” Summer replies.

“Jeez thanks,” I mutter, shifting in the uncomfortable hospital bed.

“It’s true. I’m sure if I was in your position, I would feel gross too, but I promise you don’t look that bad,” Chelsea adds.

“I’ll have to ask when I can shower and wash my hair. I can’t be going on like this for much longer.”

“It won’t be today. Maybe tomorrow?” Summer says.

“Hmmm maybe,” I reply.

I hope so…

The doctor is the next to come in. My parents follow him in. He explains I’ll have a couple days here and that Jeremy has already spoken with him about the plan for me to stay with him and have a personal physio. I look toward my parents who don’t flinch. I should’ve already guessed he’d debriefed them and asked for their permission.

How could they say no?

He’s so charming and guilt-ridden. I think anyone would give him anything he wanted. And my parents would prefer me getting private physio in the comfort of a home instead of a hospital. They just couldn't afford it, but with Jeremy, they know he can afford it.

I’ll be here for a week. It’s going to be a very long one. I already can’t wait to be with Jeremy at his place.

Chapter 36

Nova

The next few days feel like the longest days of my life. Jeremy has been visiting everyday, but I can tell something is on his mind. He tells me that he is anxious over all the construction at his house, making it ready for me. But I sense there’s more to the story. I don’t have to worry anymore because I’m leaving the hospital today. I’ve showered, dressed and now I’m waiting for him to come pick me up.

Right on cue, Jeremy strides through the doors, his charming smile in place.

“Morning.”

“Good morning,” I reply, leaning forward to meet his outstretched neck and kiss him on the lips.

I missed him.

“You ready, baby?”

I nod. “I’ve been ready for hours.”

He chuckles darkly. “So I guess I don’t need to worry about you being too comfortable here.”

“Definitely not.”

“Alright then, let’s get you home.”

I like the way he says home.

I stand and sit down in the chair. I’m on a strict physio plan with how long I can stand and sit.

My bag is packed. Mom did it last night to help me. I need more clothes from home, but I’ll get the girls to bring me some when I’m settled in at Jeremy’s.
