Maybe that’s a good thing. She’s bringing out the best in you.

Me:

Ugh, you not helping my spiral right now. Oh, and to make matters worse, Serena called me today. Maybe that’s why I thought I needed to say those words.

Why the hell did I just say that? I smack myself in the forehead.

Matt:

Slow the train. Serena called? Dude, that woman is bad news, and you know it. You think she saw you and Tinley this past weekend and wants you back?

Me:

If she did, she said nothing, but that wouldn’t surprise me.

Matt:

Well, I don’t trust that woman. She’s a snake in the grass, ready to strike. You better watch her.

Matt was never a fan of my relationship with Serena. That should have been my first clue that she was never a good fit for me. When your best friend throws up red flags, that’s when it’s time to cut the strings. But I was so blinded by the other stuff I kept on going down the hill with it.

Me:

She’s coming to Dover this weekend, so heads up.

Matt:

Why would you let her around you again?

Me:

Honestly, I have no idea, but I’ve already set the wheel in motion, so now I can't take it back.

Matt:

Okay, well, back to Tin. What are you going to do since you have basically thrown the Love word out in the universe?

Me:

I’m just hoping it's forgotten, honestly. I am falling in love. Who’s to say she’s not also?

Matt:

Congrats, I guess then, (laughing emoji)

Me:

(facepalm emoji) Thanks, man. You have not talked me off the ledge btw

Matt:

You’re welcome. Night.

Me:

Night

Just as I set my phone down, my head still spinning, it rings. Looking down at it, My Girl splashes across the screen.
