“Little sister,” Hannah grinned, her eyes sparkling with amusement. “Don't forget we have a meeting at the company today. I suppose you're here to get ready.”

Her words fell on deaf ears. Nathan's gaze met my own from across the room. His eyes were bloodshot and by the empty bottle of bourbon resting on the table I could tell he'd finished it all last night. David was behind him, a solemn expression on his face despite the smile he tried to force. I swallowed, clearing my throat.

“Good morning, everyone. Is there a family reunion going on?”

My mom didn't speak. She was still pissed about my managing of the company but I couldn't bring myself to give a damn. Not anymore.

“Actually, it's strange that you weren't here considering the fact that you and Nathan are very, very good friends,” Hannah smirked, raising an eyebrow.

“Leave her alone,” Nathan snapped, running a hand over his face.

“Aren't you going to tell her the news?”

Nathan forced a smile, pushing his chair back with undiluted anger. “Why don't you tell her?” he snarled. “You've been looking forward to it all fucking day.”

He disappeared after that, closing the door to the backyard with a slam. He was going to his studio.

“So what's going on?” I asked, looking at David.

Hannah gave me a mocking smile walking up to me and shoving a stack of papers in my face. “Nathan is now a free and divorced man, sis. Congratulations.”
