I looked around and saw their husbands and, who I assumed were their children, but I didn’t know who belonged with whom. The whole scene reminded me of when my siblings, nieces, and nephews were all in one place, and I felt right at home.
“Everyone calm down,” Mr. Chambries ordered. “Let’s sit down to eat like civilized human beings before asking them a million questions.”
Once our food was plated and we were seated, Mr. Chambries said the blessing, and reintroductions were made. Destinee’s hair was slightly shorter than Dream’s. Her husband’s name was Hudson, and their children were five- and six-year-old Hudson Jr. and Danielle, respectively. Dream’s husband’s name was Nolan, and their children were five and seven-year-old Deanna and Nolan Jr., respectively.
Throughout dinner, I learned that Destinee had been married for seven years, Dream for eight, and Mr. and Mrs. Chambries for thirty-eight years. All three couples appeared to be still smitten with their mates. Aside from Desire being the oldest and me being the middle child, our family dynamics were very similar.
With all the children in our families combined, Azaria remained the youngest and would probably be more spoiled than she already was. Mrs. Chambries asked about Azaria, commenting on how adorable she was and her excitement about having another granddaughter.
Eventually, the conversation circled back to us and our honeymoon. Unfortunately for them, we didn’t have much to share about Turks and Caicos because we didn’t leave our villa. We tried to explain without saying all we did was fuck and eat, and Desire’s sisters and brothers-in-law picked up on what we were trying not to say. Her parents, however, continued to press us about pictures and videos.
“Mama, they were on their honeymoon and didn’t get a chance to do much exploring,” Destinee attempted to explain.
“They did plenty of exploring; it just wasn’t on the island,” Dream attempted to mumble.
“You spent a week on an island and have no pictures or souvenirs to show for it?” Mrs. Chambries asked, still not understanding how that was possible.
“Sounds to me like your next grandchild might be the only souvenir,” Mr. Chambries said when it finally clicked.
“My next grand—ohh,” she expressed with wide eyes. “Well, if that’s all you did for seven days, you two should be making an announcement very soon.”
“Can we talk about something else, please?” Desire pleaded, not hiding her embarrassment.
We visited with her family for about two hours before she began to yawn. It had been a long day, and we had to be up early for the press conference.
AND SO IT BEGINS…
When we returned home from visiting my family, we showered, did the rest of our nightly hygiene routine, and crawled into bed. I hadn’t spoken much since we returned from my parents’ house. Thankfully, the visit went well, but I had a few other things on my mind.
“What’s on your mind?”
It was crazy how Aziel had become so in tune with my moods in such a short time. Maybe he was right about fate putting us together.
“You really think you know me, don’t you?”
“Is something on your mind?”
“Yes.”
“Sounds like I do. Tell me what’s up.”
“I’m nervous about the press conference,” I admitted.
“Don’t be. Most likely, the focus will be on me, but if they ask you any questions, be honest without sharing too much.”
“You’re used to this stuff. I’ve never been one for the limelight.”
“Since I haven’t been attached to one woman since I became mayor, I don’t know what it will be like for you. I’m sorry, baby. I wish I could give you more insight to help you prepare.”
“It’s cool. This is my life now, so whatever happens, I’ll deal with it. I’m sure it won’t be as bad as I imagine.”
“It won’t be, baby. Don’t worry so much.”
“Okay.”
“In the meantime, and between time, aren’t you supposed to show me your gratitude and appreciation for being such an amazing and thoughtful husband?”
“Oh, yeah,” I said before disappearing underneath the sheet and taking his already hard dick into my mouth.
