“We’ll catch a ride. Go. Your girl there needs to get out of here so she can feel safe. She can meet us later.” He smiles, walking away.

No one tries to stop me as I walk out with Piper in my arms. Once we get to the car, I open the passenger door and attempt to place her in the seat but she doesn’t let go of my neck.

“Baby, we have to go.” I whisper to her.

She holds on tight for several more long moments before she finally lets go, putting her feet on the ground. She gets into the car and I reach over her to latch her seatbelt.

Getting behind the wheel, I head home. I try to talk to her but other than answering my questions, she stays really quiet in her seat until we turn towards my house.

“Where are we going?” She asks quietly.

“My house. If that’s alright?” I ask, unsure where her head is right at this moment.

“Okay.” She answers, looking around as we drive down the street.

Pulling into my driveway, she looks out at my house but still says nothing. Reaching over I take her hand in mine.

“You’re safe here, Piper.” I say and she shakes her head.

Getting out, I walk around the car and help her out as well. Keeping my arm around her as we walk up onto the porch. My front door swings open and my Aunt smiles at me before looking at Piper.

“Piper, this is my Aunt Morgania.” Piper looks up at her and in that brief moment something seems to pass between them.

Piper goes willingly into my Aunt’s arms and starts crying.

“It’s okay sweetheart. You’re safe now. Come on, let’s get you cleaned up and find you something to wear.” My Aunt whispers into her hair and walks her into my house.

August is in the doorway of the kitchen, I wait until I see my Aunt walk into my bedroom with Piper before going into the kitchen as well. Piper might want something to eat so I start digging around to find stuff to make some soup for her.

“Is she okay?” August asks.

“I don’t know. She’s not said much but I hope she is.” I answer truthfully.

If she’s not okay, I’m not sure what I’ll do. Possibly even go back and shoot those assholes in the head. After all, I still have the gun my brother gave me.

Chapter 10

Piper

Rome’s Aunt filled me in on how they are finally getting to know Rome. All it took was for me to be kidnapped off the side of the street.

I think that’s the funny part and start laughing hysterically at the thought.

“Are you okay dear? Do you need to see a doctor for anything?” She asks sweetly looking me over and I know automatically what she’s asking.
