Blinking, I open and close my mouth in shock. She's been living in captivity, but she knows that?
Fuck me, this girl is a damn delight.
“They do, but Flynn isn’t in heat yet,” I remind her gently. “Corbin needs us?—”
“What exactly do you do for Corbin?” Wren asks.
Blowing out a breath, I stare into her hazel eyes, feeling as if I’m being grilled right now.
“I kill people, half pint,” I tell her with a shrug. “I’m his executioner, his muscle, and I keep people in line. Corbin has enemies that are trying to take his empire from him. I won’t allow this to happen, so I interrogate them. Everest on the other hand, collects large bad debts, Shaw takes meetings with Corbin because he’s a human lie detector, and then all three of us go together when shit is going to blow.”
“Is it dangerous?” she asks softly.
“Not for us,” I grunt with a smirk. “We’ve been working for Corbin since we were barely adults. We’re good, Wren, and you’re safe here, alright?”
Wren nods, and I wait for her to ask me if the people we kill deserve it or not.
“Be careful,” she says instead. “I mean, Flynn obviously needs you.”
Snorting, my fingers itch to tickle her just to see if she’ll squeal for me.
“Yes, our omega needs our big, fat knots, doesn’t he, honey?” I growl, enjoying the hitch in her breath that comes from arousal. The perfume that smells like lemon and blueberry dessert makes my eyelashes flutter as my eyes roll back.
Goddamn, I’m playing with fire, and I am definitely willing to burn up for my efforts. Wren is exquisite, I just wish she could trust her instincts more.
“Yes, he does,” Wren says brazenly, meeting my eyes. “Don’t… fuck it up.”
Her words make me roll my lips inward to hide my smile. Yes, please give it to me good, honey. My little omega is stunning with all of that long, dark brown hair as she stands and stalks out of the room.
Once she’s gone, I groan, dropping my head back on the couch. Shaw walks into the room, his heavy boots echoing. Breathing deeply, he watches me with a smirk as I adjust my cock in my pants.
“Smells like frustration,” Shaw teases me. “Let’s go kill some people. It’ll make you feel better. Corbin texted me that he has a long list of people who have fucked up in unfortunate ways. The boss is cleaning house.”
“Fuck,” I grunt, standing. God, I wish killing people would help my hard-on, but it’ll make it worse. “Corbin and his brother are going to force us into a war if they keep going this way.”
“We may have to fuck shit up and stop it. There’s no way I’m letting their bullshit spill over onto us,” Shaw growls as we leave. “We have people to protect.”
Everest pulls his jacket over his clothing, guns and knives hidden all over his person. A maniacal smile is on his lips as he joins us. Jokes and humor is where he’s most comfortable, which makes him even more dangerous when he walks into a home or office to collect a debt.
“Who are we fucking up, boys? Cause you know I’m in,” he says. “Don't think I didn't see the list for today. I want the blowtorch this time.”
I roll my eyes because it’s one of his favorite tools, but I like the blowtorch too. They roast nuts very well.
“I’ll rock, paper, scissors for it,” I tell him with a smirk.
Shaw shakes his head as he grabs the keys.
“We’re headed out, little omegas. Be good for us!” Shaw calls up the stairs.
“Are you going to make me, Daddy?” Flynn yells from the nest on the third floor. I look worriedly at the guys, and Shaw blows out a breath.
Flynn is very close to his heat, even though he’s not warm yet. I’ve checked under the guise of hugging him, but he just says he’s feeling unsettled. Nothing feels right, and his skin feels too tight.
This is the cycle he goes through before hitting a rough heat.
“Fucking brat, baby boy,” Shaw yells back up. “I’ll come up with all kinds of ways to plug your holes when I’m back!”
The house floods with both of our omegas perfume, and our eyes widen.
