For the last few days, she’s been doing this all over the house and in her nest. Wren changes sweatshirts throughout the day, and then complains that she’s hot, so the house has been an ice box. Flynn has been giving her anxious glances, trying to keep his cool.
Unfortunately, they’re definitely syncing up, because he cleaned the entire house yesterday, and even deep cleaned the refrigerator. Now, he hasn’t left his nest all day. My cock aches, knowing my omegas are probably going to go into heat at the same time.
Fuck. We just need to get through tonight.
“Honey, are you okay?” I ask Wren, eyeing her. Aisling bites her lip as she watches her friend from the corner of her eye.
So I’m not the only one who's noticed.
“Yeah, I feel like my skin is too tight,” Wren complains. “I’m hot one second and then cold the next. Ugh, I lost the guest list.”
“It’s on your tablet,” Aisling soothes. “We’re good. We’re perfect, in fact. There’s no use making ourselves insane at this point. I’m going to go call the security company to go over things one last time. While I do that, I think you should take a bath and then a nap. It’s going to be a long day.”
“Okay, yeah,” Wren says with a nod. “I need a very cold bath.”
Going to the freezer, I watch as she empties the ice bucket into a large container.
“Have a nice bath, please don’t freeze to death,” I say, at a loss for words.
Wren gives me a wide, distracted smile as she hurries out of the room.
“Fuck,” I sigh.
“She’s been going into heat for the last week,” Aisling says guiltily. “I want to tell her to stay home, but we’ve both been working so hard lately. It’s just not fair.”
“I know, her anxiety is really high,” I mutter. “Flynn is going into heat too.”
“Dammit,” Aisling grunts.
“Where’s the fire?” Shaw asks, coming into the kitchen. “Why does Wren have ice?”
“Ice bath,” Aisling says as if it’s the most normal thing in the world.
Hiding a smile, I know it’s because if she makes a big deal about this, Shaw will pull the plug on tonight. At the same time, we need to make arrangements if they both do go into full heat tonight. It’s just a simmer for now.
“We need triage,” I announce. “Our omegas are going into heat, but they’re both excited about tonight. They’re not going to want to stay home, so we need Flynn to wear boxers to the event.”
Aisling snickers at my comment as Shaw rolls his eyes.
“They’re double lined to help with slick, and dull scent. He also fucking hates them,” I admit. “Wren smells extra sweet, so I’m thinking scent blockers may help.”
“I’ll go buy some. I threw them all out, and then never ordered more,” Shaw says sheepishly. He was serious about Wren not wearing scent blockers anymore. “People are going to be running on adrenaline from the fights. I don’t want anyone to lose control and scare Wren.”
Our omegas have been so excited, they haven’t thought about the hoards of people that’ll be there tonight. Although, Aisling does have a security team, so I guess they have that under control.
“Leave as soon as you need to,” Aisling insists. “I’m getting ready here, but will be spending the night at home. We’ve gone over things ad nauseam. Now, we just have to get through it.”
“It’s four in the afternoon. The event is in a few hours. What are our plans for dinner tonight? There will be servers passing food around, but you may be too busy running around to eat,” I say.
Aisling looks between us before bursting into tears.
“What did I say?” I gasp. “Shaw, help. I don’t know what to do when people cry.”
Chuckling, Shaw tugs her into his arms for a very platonic hug.
“You can’t hug me,” she yells.
“Wren absolutely doesn’t care,” Shaw says. “Flynn and your best friend tease us about our new sister all of the time. Now shut up and explain what’s happening.”
