“I’m fine now.” I can’t tell her it was also because I lost her. Not today. This is about her and Lucas.

Lucas smiles at me. I give him a slight nod to continue talking.

“I thought you’d be sleeping a lot longer. I needed to check on Stanton and get your breakfast and then…”

Tears lace her eyes. “You really did come back for me?”

He nods.

“And you checked on me?” I ask, surprised because he never told me.

“Because we’re not just friends, are we?” Lucas stares at me for a moment, and then he turns to Grace before he looks where our babies are growing inside her. He smiles when he raises his head. “We’re pack mates?”

Grace presses her hand on her chest as hope gushes through the bond. She whispers, “Please.”

“Do you want us?” Lucas asks.

Tears, happy tears I hope, run down Grace’s cheeks before she sucks back a breath and says, “I need my alphas like I need air.”

Chapter 36

Grace

The streets of Manhattan transform into glistening ribbons under the city lights as rain cascades around us in a relentless downpour. Not that I care. I’m flanked by Stanton and Lucas, each holding one of my hands, and my heart is beating so quickly I think it’ll explode.

“We should call a cab,” Lucas suggests, his voice laced with concern as another gust of wind whips at us, driving the rain sideways.

Stanton nods in agreement, his brow furrowed as he scans the street for a potential ride.

I’m so happy, I can’t help but laugh. “And miss out on this?” I let go of their hands and twirl on the sidewalk. “Come on, live a little!”

Before they can protest, I grip their hands and tug them forward. “I want to walk with my alphas.”

Stanton grins, the spark in his eyes igniting as Lucas’s laughter joins mine, warming me despite the chill of the rain.

We walk in the rain through the streets and by the time we reach their building, my hair is plastered to my face, and my clothes are soaked through, but none of that matters because with each step we take, my heart feels lighter, the past disappearing like the rain into the sewers of Manhattan.

As we reach the covered doorway, soaked but smiling, the doorman greets us with a broad smile.

He glances between us. “You found your treasure,” he says to Lucas, his eyes twinkling with an unspoken understanding.

“I did, Trent.” Lucas pulls me close, his eyes showing the love he has for me. And my heart sings when he looks at Stanton and says, “And we’re never losing her again, are we?”

Stanton grumbles as he carries me to the bathroom. He wanted me to sleep in his and Lucas’ cum.

At least, Lucas isn’t so much of a deviant.

Holding me close to him as we plunge under the hot water of the shower together.

He presses a tender kiss on my lips before he lowers me until my feet touch the tiles.

He continues to do everything for me, not letting me move one limb as he cleans me.

And I love it.

He squeezes a generous amount of shampoo on his hands and works his long fingers against my scalp. After washing my hair, he leaves in the conditioner while he washes my body from my head to my toes.

He groans as he washes between my legs, his fingers gently skimming my clit. “Are you sore?”
