“Don’t lie to me, girl. I saw the way you were blushing around him this morning.”
“That was…” I raise my brow. “You were watching us this morning?”
Naomi nods. “I didn’t mean to eavesdrop or anything, but I think you’re attracted to him. We’ve been friends for years and I haven’t seen you act that way around anyone else.”
I pick another glass from the new tray being carried by a server passing by. I’m determined to keep telling myself that I’m not attracted to Vincent so I’d rather not hear it from it from someone else. “And how did I act around him?”
“You were rude for no reason and praising him behind his back. Does that ring a bell?”
“Come on, now. How is that proof I like him?”
“How is it not?” Naomi pokes my rib and I huff out a laugh. “Girls act like that when they’re attracted to a guy. Don’t play dumb.”
I raise my head and inhale. She’s got me there and I don’t dare to deny it. “Maybe I’m just sexually frustrated.”
She sips her wine and nods her head in agreement. “Maybe. You haven’t been sexually active since…” She pauses and counts to five on her fingers. “Five years? I know you’ve no had sex since nursing school and I’m quite certain you’re growing cobwebs down there already.”
“Jeez, Naomi. Thanks for having so much interest in my vagina.”
She winks at me and laughs. “You’re welcome.”
We’re interrupted when a deep voice across the room says twenty, raising up a card.
“That’s him,” Naomi whispers.
My chest flutters when I look in the direction she’s looking and Vincent’s eyes meet mine. They’re so intense and blue I could live the rest of my life staring into them.
He’s inhumanly handsome, I swear.
Vincent is wearing a white tailored tuxedo and a white sweater underneath. His hair has a wet, curly look. If I didn’t already know who he was, I’d think he was a model on his way to a photo shoot after the charity event.
“God, look at his jaw,” Naomi says with a voice barely above a whisper. Her teeth sink in her bottom lip, her eyes undressing Vincent where he’s standing. “I wonder what he’s like beneath those layers of clothing.”
I also wonder what he’s like naked. I can tell from his broad shoulders and arms he’ll be nothing more than strong layers of muscles. The guy looks like he visits the gym twice a day.
I bite my lip, then I trace my neck and chest with my fingers. I close my eyes and imagine what it would feel like to have him touching me, running his tongue down my neck, and whispering dirty words in my ears.
I see my legs clenching around his back as I pulsate from the orgasm he induced.
Christ, I’m mentally fucked up and I don’t mind. Maybe it’ll be my only escape from the hell I’m facing.
I want him.
I want him so much my core is aching to have him.
“You should see your face right now,” Naomi whispers in my ear this time and my eyes pop open. “I bet you’ve had two orgasms right where you stand.”
I roll my eyes. Naomi is so mouthy and I like how brutally honest she can be. I know I don’t because I know I’m blushing at her words.
“Two is a bit of a stretch, don’t you think?”
“I don’t.” She finishes her drink and replaces the glass with one that’s filled with champagne. “So, you making a move on him or should I help you?”
“Help me? What are you going to tell him?” The last thing I want is Vincent thinking I’m one of the girls who’ll fall at his feet because he’s handsome and rich.
I mean, I’m already one of those girls who like him because he’s handsome, but I don’t need him to know that. Plus, it’s not just his looks making me act like a teen around him. He’s kind and I need a little bit of kindness in my life, too.
“When I go to him, I’ll be like, ‘Hey, Mr. Romano. My friend over there has been eyeing you for a straight hour. She’s single and needs a guy like you to rock her world. Be careful though, she’s been single and hasn’t had sex for so long you could mistake her for a virgin.’” Naomi smiles as if she’s just said the smartest thing in the world. “How did that sound?”
