Fuck if this isn’t the longest five minutes I’ve ever seen. With every bid, we’re quickly out bid.
“One minute, ladies and gentlemen until bidding for our first lot closes.” Edward’s voice rings in my ear as I watch the beauty on stage let out a breath.
My knee begins to bounce beneath the table, and my hands curl into fists.
I want Virtue.
More than anything I’ve ever wanted before and I don’t even know why. She’s nothing more than a nameless girl, but I desire her so intensely.
Maybe it’s because she’s a virgin and it would be crossing something off my sexual exploration list. You know the one, we all have them; anal-check, bondage-check, threesome-check, orgy-check, et cetera.
My uncle places bid after bid and each time his light turns from green to red, my blood pressure rises. By the time this is over, I’m going to need to be placed on medication.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we have thirty seconds remaining,” Edward’s deep voice announces.
The button’s still red.
Fuck! We’re going to lose the bid.
But my uncle and brother just stare, the seconds ticking away. Why did they bid so hard just to let her slip through their fingers now?
Then, with a swift movement, my uncle places a bid just as the timer hits one. Ten fucking million dollars. My jaw drops at the amount just as the light flashes green and then it locks and the screen goes black.
What the fuck?! Did we win?
“The bidding is over. If you won, your tablet will now notify you so you can complete the payment. Virtue, please leave the stage.”
The beauty turns and walks, disappearing behind a curtain just as the tablet lights up.
Congratulations. You placed the winning bid on lot one. Please complete your payment for the merchandise.
My heart flutters in excitement. Please let her be for me. Honestly, I really don’t care if Uncle Liam and Killian want to join, but I want to be the one to take her virginity.
“We will begin bidding for lot number two in just a few moments,” Edward announces, just as a waiter steps up to our table with fresh drinks.
Shit, does the tablet even hold our drinking preferences? The only thing that sucks now is that we have to wait.
Elena
I’m going to throw up. That was the longest five minutes of my life.
“See, it wasn’t so bad, was it? I might add you went for a hefty penny. Seems you piqued the attention of a lot of the bidders.” Andrea greets me at the edge of the stage.
“You know who bought me?” I’m hoping she can at least tell me a little about him before he comes to collect me.
She lets out a chuckle as she shakes her head. “No, I don’t. Right now, only Edward does. But I can tell you that you went for ten million dollars.” My eyes go wide and my mouth drops.
Ten million dollars! That’s insane. Who pays that for sex?
All I can think about is ending up with someone who's completely not what I desire. The only thing I can imagine is the walkers from that television show or the butler guy from the scary movie franchise as he rubs what he calls his strong hand down the edge of my face.
I shudder at the thought. Andrea must think I’m about to fall again as she loops her arm in mine and leads me down the hallway. There’s not been a glimpse of anyone else participating. When they say our identity will be kept private, they truly mean it.
Andrea stops at the door to my dressing room and opens it. “Stay in your lingerie, as it’s up to your purchaser how he wants you to be dressed when you leave. If he wishes you to stay in your lingerie, then there’s a coat folded in the garment bag hanging behind the one that contained your clothing for tonight. It was a pleasure meeting you and have an amazing weekend.” She turns to leave, but I still have questions.
“What about my clothes?” I blurt out. “Do I leave them here?”
She turns and smiles. “No, place them in the garment bag and take them with you. The lingerie is yours to keep, per Edward’s wishes.” She opens the door, but before she steps out, she looks back over her shoulder. “Just a reminder, your purchaser will return you back here on Sunday night by midnight. You will be paid at that time. It was lovely meeting you, Virtue.”
