“Yeah,” someone says, but I’m not sure who because my eyes are too busy scanning the building.

“Alright, Sierra, pull it together. Also, remember we only call her Lilac from this point on until we smack the dick in the face with the truth.” Ryker orders.

Colin turns off the engine and both he and Ryker get out of the car, opening our doors for us.

They’re both in black, skin-tight Tiger Tail shirts and jeans, with no trace of anything tying them to their MC.

Arizona is a sexy policeman with a royal blue mask and blue wig, complimenting my sexy firefighter costume.

Our heels click on the concrete sidewalk as we walk up to the door.

“How do we get inside?” I whisper under my breath.

“We have a code for the keypad. Once we enter it, then Bash will hack in and change the code so no one can come in after us. They saw Johnson show up, alone. No one else has entered or left the building since then.” Colin tilts his head down so the camera can’t pick up his lips.

I nod as Ryker acts like he’s pulling out the paper with the code. I’m sure he has it memorized. But we have to keep up the act in case he’s watching.

“Once we get inside, we go to the elevator and take it to the second floor. The room we’re going to is the third door on the right once we get off.”

Ryker types in the code and the lock disengages.

He pulls the door open and steps inside, looking in both directions before gesturing for us to follow him.

I take a deep breath and step over the threshold, Arizona close behind me.

We walk toward the elevator, Ryker in front and Colin behind us, while Arizona and I move forward, hand in hand.

Just a little bit further and I’ll be face to face with him, now knowing what happened that night. I still can’t remember all the details, but I’ve come to realize it’s a blessing.

Chapter 52

Sierra

Ryker steps into the room first.

“It’s about time. You should’ve been here ten minutes ago. Rico assured me you would be prompt.” Mr. Johnson’s voice has the hair on my arm standing on end.

“We ran into traffic. If you want, we can leave and you can schedule for another day, man.” Ryker’s voice is cold and flat.

“Why the fuck would I do that? Especially since I already paid. I’m getting extra time. Where’s Lilac?”

I take a deep breath, then step into the room. It takes everything in me to put on a fake smile and turn on the charm.

“I’m right here, even brought a friend. Blue, want to come join me?” Arizona steps into the room, pressing her body against mine as she lets her finger trail down my arm.

“I’d love to,” she purrs.

“Then come on ladies, it’s time to party. I have drinks for us.” He gestures toward the table and an uneasiness takes over. “The two of you can wait outside.”

“Our orders are to stay with the girls,” Ryker speaks up, stepping forward in front of us.

“You can wait in the hallway. I paid for a private party with the ladies, which means it’s just us. So in the hallway now.”

Ryker doesn’t falter in his stance and relief washes over me until Colin steps up and whispers in his ear.

“We’ll be outside if you need us, ladies. Two hours is the time you paid for, and not a minute more.” Ryker turns and storms from the room.

Colin steps closer with a reassuring smile before he walks out of the room and shuts the door, leaving us alone with him.
