He playfully walks his fingers over the curves of my belly before softly stroking my swollen folds. “What are you doing?” I ask with a lazy smile.
“Making sure I stay where I belong.” I’m not sure what he means until he cups my mound and presses his middle finger into my core. My walls clench at the salacious intrusion, but I like the idea of him wanting to keep his cum inside me. “Sleep for a while. I’ll be right here when you wake up.”

“You gave me a fucking heart attack!” Tessa yells at me through the phone.
I flinch, startled by the high-pitched sound. I’ve never heard my best friend raise her voice like this. It’s kind of unnerving.
“I’m sorry I didn’t call you right away, but it was late,” I soothe, trying to calm her down, but she continues with her rant.
“I don’t care how late it was. You scared me to death! I was worried sick and didn’t sleep a wink.”
“I know and I’m sorry.”
“Kyle called and said you were late to pick him up, and I immediately knew something wasn’t right. You’re never late, not when it comes to him. But I was hoping that maybe he just got his schedule mixed up or something. I should’ve asked more questions. I should’ve made sure he was okay.”
“It’s fine now. He’s taken care of.”
There’s a definite silence before Tessa chokes out a sob and my chest tightens at the sound. “But you weren’t. I called and called and called and called. All straight to voicemail. I tried calling Kyle, and he didn’t answer either. I almost called the police, but I knew it was too soon and what would I tell them anyway?” The sun’s barely up and I’m already making my best friend cry. “I thought you were dead,” she snivels.
“Please don’t cry, Tess. I’m fine. Honest.” My attempts to mollify her seem to be failing, so I try distraction instead. “Crusher came for me.”
“Crusher?” Her voice tips up at the end and I know I’ve got her attention.
I tell her everything, not skipping over any details, which finally gets her to stop crying. Then, her sadness turns into rage on my behalf.
“I hope they all fucking burn for what they’ve done. I’ll even help you hide their bodies,” she fumes, but I know it’s all talk. My sweet friend could never hurt another living soul. It’s just not in her nature.
But I can. And I did. And I don’t regret a damn thing.
“No one has to worry about any of them again. They’ve been taken care of.” I let my words sink in and there’s a pregnant pause in our conversation.
“Good. I hope they killed them all,” she declares with a dark tone that surprises me.
I leave out the specifics, but I’m positive Tessa knows who handled the Outlaws. She’s lived in Carnage all of her life, just like I have. And she knows the reputations of Landon and his brothers. The thing is most of us in town don’t care. They have illegal dealings and commit crimes, but they do what they can to take care of the people in this city. Which is certainly more than I can say for some of our elected officials and police officers. Particularly our mayor.
“What are you doing now?” Tessa asks, changing the subject.
“I’m getting ready to go see Kyle. He was sleeping and I was exhausted and needed to get cleaned up. But we’re heading to him now.” More than anything, I need to see my brother. He knows I’m safe. Landon told me so last night. But I need to see him with my own eyes to settle the anxiety that lingers deep within my chest.
“He must be worried sick about you.”
“I’m sure he is.” I feel awful for what he’s been through these last several hours, especially considering how we already lost our parents so suddenly. Poor kid.
“Well, I won’t keep you then. Go take care of little dude.” She sounds more relaxed, but I can tell by her somber tone that she’s still concerned about me, and I love her for that.
“I will.”
“And you better come see me today. Both of you. I need to make sure my two favorite people are okay. And apologize for not being there.”
“You apologize for nothing,” I tell her sternly. “You’ve always been there for me and Kyle, and we love you.”
“Love you too. You’re family to me.” I can hear her soft smile in her tone.
“I promise we’ll come by later. I’ll even bring Crusher with me.” I grin. At the mention of his name, his head whips in my direction.
