I bark out a laugh, hearing Sentinel snicker from his bike behind us. “Fuck, woman. Will you ever stop busting my balls?” I ask, grinning like a love-sick fool.
“Do you want me to?” She tilts her head and smirks.
Fuck no.
Sadie Michaels is the only woman to have me tied up in knots and almost at the point of insanity. And here she is, standing in front of me, injured and having survived something so damn traumatic. Yet she has the nerve to give me shit. Ain’t nobody like this one, and I’m keeping her until the day I die.
Her gaze flicks to my mouth and a thrill zips through me. Feels like a hundred years since I’ve kissed her and I wonder how I went months without doing it.
“You can bust my balls any time you want, Trouble.” I tug her to my chest, claiming her mouth gently. I want to ravage her, but I’m careful not to disturb the cut on her lip. I expect her to fight me, but instead, she melts against my body, exploring my mouth with her tongue. Her subtle moans are like heaven, and I groan as I swallow the sounds.
Sadie is safe. She’s back in my arms, where she’ll always be for the rest of my life.
I finally pull away, resting my forehead against hers as we breathe in sync. “Let’s get you home, Trouble.”

SADIE
I’ve never been so damn tired in my life.
My eyes are threatening to close, and with every step I take, waves of pain shoot down my legs. Not to mention my face feels like it’s going to explode from all the swelling, and the wound on my wrist burns from dirt and sweat.
Occasionally, I catch Landon glancing at me to make sure I don’t pass out. I just might—I keep having to catch myself from losing my balance on the gravel road.
“You gonna be okay to ride?”
“I’m fine,” I mutter, being stubborn as usual. It’s a trait I get from my mom.
He arches an eyebrow at me, but doesn’t argue, and I’m thankful for the reprieve as memories from the last few hours flood my brain. I can still feel the grip of the gun in my hand, still feel the way it recoiled when I fired it. One minute, Scarface was trying to get his pants off and the next there was blood spilling out of his chest. It all happened so fast, but I knew I had to be smart and I had to be quick.
I couldn’t find anything in the room to use against him, and there was no way I would’ve been strong enough to try to strangle him with the rope. But I’d heard him talking about me, knew he was ready to do about anything to get into my pants, just to piss off Landon and the rest of the Disciples. So I played into what he wanted, taunted him and told him he couldn’t take me if he tried. I knew he’d fall for the challenge, because there was no way he’d believe I’d suddenly had a change of heart and was now begging him for my life.
Men can be such simple creatures. Nothing like a little humiliation and showing them something they can’t have to make them puff out their chests and try to prove their manhood. And sure enough, Scarface fell for it. Or should I call him by his road name, Knuckles?
Knuckles? What in the hell kinda name is that anyway? Sounds like a cartoon.
He was determined to shut me up with his big dick, and as soon as he started to whip the pitiful thing out, I got the jump on him. He may have been an overweight, burly brute but I’m smaller and faster. He had his weapon poorly secured in the back of his jeans, and I quickly moved behind him to retrieve it. I’m surprised the idiot hadn’t shot his own ass off yet, but his stupidity certainly worked in my favor.
For a moment, I’d lost hope that anyone was going to come for me. I thought I’d be sold off and I’d never see Kyle again. I desperately wanted Landon to show up and save me, but I knew I was running out of time and couldn’t wait any longer. I needed to act, especially when I heard a commotion out front and the men talking about two new girls they’d brought in. I’d rather die fighting than live in captivity, so I took my chances as soon as I saw an opportunity open up. Thank God I did, or who knows what would’ve happened. And who knows if I would’ve even made it out of there if Landon and his brothers hadn’t turned up not long after?
He stares at me, his gaze roaming my battered face, and we speak at the same time.
“I’m sorry.”
“Thank you.”
A sad smile forms on his gorgeous, rugged face. “This is all my fault. I should’ve protected you.”
“You didn’t know this was going to happen. No one did. I’m just glad you came to get me,” I say before he softly kisses my lips. “Besides, I needed a ride home.”
“Nothing but trouble.” He shakes his head and chuckles.
“But I’m the best kind.”
He kisses me again before handing me a helmet. I slip it on and secure the strap beneath my chin. “I’ll take you to Kyle,” he announces.
I can’t wait to throw my arms around my little brother. I bet he’s worried sick. But I don’t need to make it worse by showing up looking like I went a few rounds in a boxing ring. “Not like this. Let me clean up and rest. I can see him in the morning.”
