“He definitely looks like the kind of man who knows his way 'round women’s vaginas.”

“You’re gross.” I scrunch my face at the thought of Landon being anywhere near another girl.

“I’m not gross. I’m honest. That man is hot.” She fans air at herself with a palm. “I’ve seen his big hands. And his big feet.”

“Well, you’re not seeing his big dick.”

“Oh my God, it’s ginormous, isn’t it?” She looks at me like an excited puppy waiting for a treat.

“I’m not answering that.” I hide my smile by sipping my coffee.

“That means yes and you already told me it was pierced. You lucky bitch. Does he have any single friends? Do they have pierced cocks too?”

“Maybe. But none of this is why I’m here,” I whine.

“So why are you here if not to gossip about hot sex with a hulking biker?” She quirks a brow.

I sigh, drop my head, and look at the ceiling before finally returning my gaze to hers. “I just… I don’t have time for a relationship, not even a situationship. I need whatever is happening between us to be done because…” I don’t think I could take it if he broke my heart. I like him too much.

“Because what?” Tessa presses.

I try to verbalize my concerns, but they all sound stupid in my head. So I make up something else. “Because it wouldn’t be good for Kyle. I need to focus on him.” It’s not exactly a lie.

“I think your baby brother is old enough to handle you dating someone, babes. You’ve been living like a nun for long enough. You may not know this, but vaginas are like ear piercings. If you don’t put something in them, the hole will close up.”

I almost spit out my drink. “Did you forget I’m a nurse? That is absolutely not true.”

She shrugs. “Eh… I’m pretty sure it is.”

“You’re a nut.” I stand, suck down what’s left of my coffee, and rinse my cup in the sink.

“Maybe, but I’m your nut. We’re hoes for life, bitch.”

“I think it’s supposed to be bros for life,” I correct her.

“Same thing.” She sets her mug next to mine and follows me to the front door.

“I have some errands to run before I pick up Kyle from practice. Thanks for the coffee.”

“Always.” She wraps me up in a tight hug. “Will you do me a favor?”

“Of course,” I tell her.

She pulls back, giving my shoulders a squeeze as she gazes at me. “Stop pushing people away. You’re an amazing person, Sadie, with so many special gifts. It’s a shame that only Kyle and I get to experience them. This is not how your parents would’ve wanted you to be. They would’ve wanted you to thrive, not just survive.”

Tears threaten to spill over my eyelashes, but I rein them in.

“Try to remember that the next time you’re giving that sexy man a hard time. Because I know you, and I guarantee you’re busting his balls every chance you get.”

I laugh. “Maybe I am.” An impassive expression covers her face. “Fine, I definitely am,” I admit.

Tessa smiles and nudges me toward the door. “Go on, get outta here. Hug little dude for me and tell Crusher I want to meet all his single friends with big dicks.”

“Love you,” I shout over my shoulder as I head to my old truck. It was my dad’s, and I’ll drive this sucker until the wheels fall off.

“Love you too, bitch!”

I pull my driver’s door closed, the heavy weight in my chest feeling a bit lighter. I’ll run my errands, and then I’ll decide what I’m going to do about Landon. Maybe it’s time to listen to my heart for once and stop thinking so hard about what may or may not happen.
