“The name? Yeah.”
“You’re sure.”
“Hundred percent.”
Bryan looked at him. “So, what do we do now?”
“Now, we get to work.”
NINE
Skyler lined up a bank shot. “Did either of you meet this guy?”
“I didn’t,” Rowan said.
Skyler sank the nine ball and looked at Lila. “You?”
“Briefly.” Lila sipped her ginger ale. “Nice shot.”
“Thanks.” She scooted around the table and leaned over.
Rowan noticed the trio of men watching from a nearby high-top. Auburn-haired Skyler in a scoop-neck sweater always attracted attention.
“All I know is he works at a startup, and Dara says he’s some tech genius.” Lila darted a skeptical look at Rowan.
“Does he have any money?” Skyler asked, probably because Dara’s last boyfriend had been a deadbeat who ran up her credit card.
“No idea,” Lila said.
Skyler glanced at Rowan.
“Don’t look at me. I’ve never even laid eyes on him.”
Skyler took her shot and missed, then sauntered over and handed Rowan the cue.
“Okay, break’s over,” Lila said. “Damn. Why are we so busy on a Tuesday?”
Lila headed back to the bar as Rowan rounded the table, scoping out her next move.
“Red in the corner,” Skyler said.
“Yeah, right.”
“What? You can make it.”
Rowan shook her head. “No way.”
“Put a little backspin on it.”
Shaking her head, Rowan leaned over the table. She took the shot and ended up scratching.
“See?” She looked up, but Skyler wasn’t watching. Rowan turned and saw that her attention was fixed on a man who’d just entered the bar.
Jack’s gaze locked on Rowan, and a jolt of heat went through her. He made his way through the crowd and stopped in the doorway leading to the pool room.
“Hi,” he said.
“Hi.”
