Lily didn’t even crack a smile. “So that’s it? You’re turning celibate at the grand old age of twenty-seven? You can’t honestly tell me you have no plans to have sex ever again because that fuckwad hurt you?”
“Fine. I’m sure I’ll shag someone in the next fifty years or so, but that’s all it will be ever. I’m done with relationships. Everything will have an expiry date from now on.” She snapped her fingers together. “It will be expiry dating from here on out.”
CHAPTER FOUR
Brady was hiding. Like a coward. He had missed his physical therapy appointment today, like he already said he would. It wasn’t the thought of Alice Hart being on a rampage that had him cowering, because if anything, he lived for the blue fire in her eyes. No, he was hiding because it was easier than having to explain why he didn’t want her to be his PT.
Being home or at the station was too obvious, so instead he chose to hide in plain sight. He was just finishing off his burger at the diner when she found him. And she looked pissed. Really pissed.
The red leather squeaked against her bare thighs as she slid into the booth seat across from him. She’d changed into one of her dresses, this one more form-fitting than the ones he was used to seeing her in.
Damn, she looks good.
She wasn’t talking, so he took his time letting his eyes roam over her. Her long, dark waves were loose; he loved it when she wore her hair down. He wondered how it would feel in his fingers. Would it be as silky as it looked? The low-cut, strappy dress meant he was treated to miles of creamy skin, and all he could think about was how it might taste. His tongue even darted out to lick his bottom lip. Apparently his body was on board with the idea too.
Stay strong, man. Don’t cave, ’cause she’s hot.
His gaze flicked back up to her face then, her death stare was still going strong, but she was yet to speak.
“Sweetness,” he greeted, “something you wanna talk to me about?”
“Don’t play dumb, Brady. You know why I’m here.”
“To have dinner with me?”
“Cute.” She waved down Dotty, the diner’s owner, and requested the check before returning her glare back to him. “Seeing as you skipped out on your appointment today, I’ve decided to take matters into my own hands.”
One brow involuntarily arched at her. “Is that so?”
Dotty placed the check on the table just as Alice was about to reply. After taking a quick glance, he pulled out a twenty and threw it on top of the bill.
“Ready?” Alice asked, sliding back out of the booth and looking at him expectantly.
What is her game?
She was being far too calm for his liking. Which meant she had a plan. A plan he no doubt wouldn’t like.
