“You, little floof,” Yril uses the petname on me, and it’s enough to have me toppling into my climax and pushing him into his. “All yours. From the first moment I saw you until I take my last breath.”
“Good verpar,” I coo while I arch my back and press my breasts against his chest as his breathing starts to calm.
Yril’s eyes shoot down to me like he does not need praise, but he most definitely needs it now. Especially when he is feeling so underserving of the connection we have. I scoot away from his cock and shimmy my way up his body as he stays over me until I’m eye-to-eye with him again. I cradle his face between my hands and note the swollen lip I gave him.
“My good verpar.” I nip the same lip enough to remind him that I have marked him at least slightly. “Mine.”
Something settles over Yril’s face. An understanding or an acceptance. Whatever it is, it has him nodding and telling me exactly what I want to hear. “Yours.”
Skylar
Imake Yril show me who he belongs to a few more times in bed before we both fall asleep, too exhausted from exertion that we don’t have the energy to think about what happened earlier before we made it back to the tribe.
We’ll need to talk about it. In fact, I’m pretty sure we need to talk about it with everyone in the tribe, or at least the leader when we wake up in the morning. For now, I’m just happy I have my mate back, and he’s no longer doubting what’s between us.
I’m woken in the morning to Yril hissing like a damn snake and crouching over my sleeping body with his claws fully extended and shredding the blanket we used all night. It takes me all of five seconds to wake up fully, and in that time, Yril is able to grab the male who walked in by the throat and pin him against the bedroom wall. I scramble out of bed, completely naked, not even realizing that it’s only going to make things worse. Yril’s naked too, and there’s another female in the doorway, so really, we can both just be pissed off about the whole thing.
“It is my room too!” the other male, with scales and eyes just as red as my mate’s, snarls.
I cock my head to the side. His horns are the same too. I look over to the woman in the doorway, who I didn’t give much notice to until I realize it’s Alice, and she’s watching everything play out with giant eyes and shaking hands. Oh, damn, she’s actually here with her mate, or who should be her mate, and my demon might be completely ruining whatever moment they’re trying to have.
“Move out then,” Yril spits at Toron. His hand is tight around Toron’s throat, and I worry he might actually hurt his brother. “Or at least don’t try to fight me when your mate still hasn’t claimed you.”
Alice’s face blanches, and the shaking moves to her whole body. I shoot the men an angry look and then scurry over to my friend, picking up a discarded tunic in the process so I can put it on. The brothers are still trying to get each other to back down by pressing their horns against one another.
I grab Alice around the shoulders and turn her away from the fight that may or may not happen. We don’t need to see it, and if I’m gone, there’s a good chance Yril will get more upset with me instead of his brother. The demons are so caught up in their own nonsense that they don’t notice their mates slipping away down the hall.
“We can go to my room,” Alice says as she looks over her shoulder to where the two demons are still hissing and yelling at one another. They’ll realize we’re gone eventually. Then they’ll push aside their differences to find their mates, and all will be good in the world. “Males aren’t allowed in there without permission. Simone will be in there, and she doesn’t put up with them either.”
I nod along, but I know who I really need to find is the tribe leader. Yril and I need to tell him about what happened yesterday. There’s no way Yril would’ve let me get so far from him if he even thought what happened to me was a possibility which means those males weren’t from this tribe, and this place doesn’t seem like it’s the place for others to just visit out of the blue. Even the Hands told me that they thought something was happening if warrior genes were being kicked off in the males. It couldn’t all be a coincidence, and the sooner I talk to the tribe leader. Well, the sooner Yril and I both speak to him, the sooner we can prepare for what might be about to happen.
I follow Alice down another hallway right as the whole great hall vibrates with a roar that I know belongs to my mate. Her eyes grow wide in fear, and I shoo her into the room but don’t follow her. I wish we had more time to talk, but we’ll find it, I’m sure.
I walk back the way I came from so I can find Yril before he kills someone in his attempt to find me. I’ll find Alice later and explain to her anything she wants to know. She probably already knows more than I do since she’s been in the great hall with all the other humans while I’ve been off with Yril in the woods.
I scurry down the hall back into the dining room. I’ve seen what Yril’s sexy, scary claws can do, and I’m not about to be responsible for him killing someone he’s known his whole life. I round the corner to the dining room right as he rounds the corner from his hallway, still completely naked. My amusement matches his fury, and everyone in the dining hall is focused on what’s about to happen.
A smile breaks across my face when I see my mate furious and bare stalking toward me with pure determination on his face. I don’t care that we’re completely surrounded by others or that they can all see my mate’s hard-on. He marches over to me. Confusion morphs the scowl on his face when he sees the smile on my lips and the tilt of my head as my eyes roam his body. His eyes follow mine down his body right before a smile breaks across his face. The realization of what I’m admiring is clear between the two of us.
“If you’re going to show off, you might as well tell them all whose cock they’re looking at,” I taunt him, but it only has his lips twitching upwards. There’s a bark of laughter from one of the other demons, and then a few others join in on the amusement.
“They all already know, little floof.” Yril lets me close the rest of the distance between us. He doesn’t bother to cover himself, just lets his hands rest on his hips so I can continue admiring the male I mated.
“I want to hear you say it.” I keep my eyes on him, making sure he doesn’t lose it at any moment. He doesn’t seem upset anymore, but he’s told me that his temper is always just barely contained because of the rage that flows through his veins now. I need to get him back to our room so he can get some pants on, and then we need to go talk to the tribe leader.
“Your cock, floof,” Yril says the words loud enough that everyone in the dining hall can hear it. My smile is too big on my face, and blush has definitely stained my cheeks, but Yril does a good job of making it feel like it’s just the two of us in the whole world. Or it feels like that until Toron stomps over to us with a pair of pants in his hands and a snarl on his lips.
“Where did she go?” He snaps at me, which has Yril spinning on him, fangs dropping from somewhere hidden so he can hiss and look even more menacing.
If there’s one thing that can get Yril more worked up than anything else, it’s thinking anyone could be thinking, doing, or thinking about doing anything bad about or to me. Does it matter that Toron is probably talking to me in the only way he knows how since his rage has no outlet? Nope. Yril would rip him apart if he thought it would help.
I step between the two men and grab the pants from Toron so I can give them to Yril to wear. I hand them over and give him a pointed look that tells him he needs to play nice. I keep a hand on his abdomen as he gets dressed, hoping it can calm him enough not to kill his brother. His lips pull back as he works hard to keep eye contact with Toron as he puts on his pants. I keep my laughter contained, which is a feat in itself because my laughing at him wobbling around as he tries to keep his balance and be upset is hilarious.
“Alice went to her room,” I say softly and keep my eyes on Yril, who is now fully focused on me since he put his pants on.
Yril no longer seems that upset about his brother being pissed at him. Nope, he’s staring at me like I’m the best thing to ever happen to him. Like there’s no one else here except for us.
How his temper can flare to extremes, and then he’s back to being a sweetheart will probably always surprise me. Especially when he’s so soft toward me and so not to everyone else. Yril’s attention is drawn to his brother for a moment, and it seems to snap him back to reality.
