“What do you want?” I asked the huntress in front of me.

“I want you to stay away from Artemis. Mate or not.” She spat.

“Why? Why should I listen to you and stay away from my mate!?” I raised my voice a bit.

She looked down at her bow and kept her gaze on it. It looked like she was having a mental battle with herself. Hesitant and worried.

She looked up and stared into my different colored eyes.

She took off her hood slowly. Then removed her mask.

“A-Artemis.” I stuttered.

“This is why I want you to stay away from me. I can’t be your mate, but I’m not going to leave you broken and reject you. Just give me some space.” With that said she put on her mask and hood and left.

I fell down onto my knees crying.

My mate is something I despise.

A hunter.

Hunters took everything from me.

But I still want her in my arms.

I don’t care if she’s a hunter. I just want her.

But I’m still going to give her the space she asked for.

Blake’s POV(three weeks later)

These past three weeks have been torture.

I’ve barley slept and ate.

My wolf has been silent.

Every now and then there are rogues with Artemis’s calling card on it.

It makes me so worried about her. She could be badly hurt and all alone. I know she’s tough but she’s still my mate. It’s my job to worry about her.

I snuck into her house and took one of her hoodies because her scent on it relaxes me.

I also leave notes at her door. Telling her how much I need her but I still expect her space.

I need to go out for a run.

I walked out of my bedroom and headed outside. I stripped down and shifted while carrying my clothes on my mouth. I gave Gavin control.

He started running faster. A collapsed tree was getting closer to us. He leaped and landed perfectly on all four paws.

He stopped suddenly and walked behind a tree. He gave me back control and told me to shift back.

I obeyed. I walked out from behind the tree and was hit with the sweet smell of my mate.
