I turned to him and admired that glorious body one last time. “I’m Memphis. What’s yours?”

“Corben.”

I nodded. “It was nice to meet you, Corben.”

“I’m here until ten o’clock tomorrow. Knock on my door any time you want.”

With that lovely comment, I strode from his room and made for the elevator.

Back in my room, I gasped. Oh fuck, I’d been away from reception for forty minutes.

I yanked my clothing and wig off and jumped into the shower. The imaginary ticking clock reverberated through my brain as I refreshed and redressed back in the clothes I’d had on earlier. I didn’t bother to moisturize or reapply any makeup. I brushed my teeth, gulped back a glass of water, and left my room to head for the elevator.

My body was still a lust-filled inferno as I rode the agonizingly slow elevator to the lobby. I wiped the sweat from my forehead and pushed my annoying fringe to one side. I adjusted my ponytail at the back of my head and tried to force some calm into my still-racing heart.

When the elevator door pinged open, my heart hit panic mode. Four adults, five children, and an abundance of luggage filled the lobby.

I raced to my position behind reception.

“About bloody time,” said one of the women as she bounced a baby on her hip. “We’ve been waiting over half an hour.”

“I’m so sorry. We had an emergency upstairs.”

“Yeah, right.” The mother snapped. “What were you doing? Taking a nap?”

“Rebecca!” the man at the counter with a serious three-day growth said. “Let it go.”

“No. I won’t let it go.” She spun to him. “We’ve had a shit day, and the last thing we needed was to be left hanging at this time of night.”

Oh shit!I’d been so caught up in satisfying my stupid libido that I hadn’t even thought about the late check-in register. “What are your names, please?” I tried to ignore the acid burning in my stomach.

Two kids fought over a ball, and the other woman went to sort them out.

“Thompson and Higgins,” the man said.

The woman sat the baby on the counter and leaned over to look down at what I was doing. “We rang the number on the front door, you know.”

I shot a glance at her.

“That’s right.” She thrust her chin at me. “We spoke to your boss. He said we could have a discount.”

Oh crap. They’d called Needledick! That wasn’t good.

“He’s on his way here now.”

I gasped and covered my mouth.

Her eyes glinted. “Now you’re worried, aren’t you?”

Worried was a freaking understatement.

“Leave her alone, Rebecca.” The man dragged her from the counter. “I’m sorry about that; we’ve had a pretty stressful day.”

“No, I’m sorry. I should’ve been here.” I felt ill. Close to throwing up.

Bile shot to my throat when the glass sliding doors at the front of the hotel opened, and my shithead boss strode toward me. His clenched jaw highlighted his anger.

I couldn’t believe how quickly he’d got here. I was only gone for about fifty minutes. How did this happen? How didIlet this happen?
