A light breeze drifted off the ocean, and the sounds of the waves crashing into the shore perfected the scene. It couldn’t get any better if it tried. “It’s lovely along here at this time of night,” I said.
“Sure is. Are you here on holiday?” His voice was a sexy baritone.
“Yes, I’m from Mildura.” A lie and a truth mingled together. Did that count as bad? I couldn’t decide.
“I’m just from Brisbane. We’ve come down to Supernova for the last three years.”
“Sounds like fun.”
“It is. How long are you here for?”
“Just a couple of days.” I cringed at my never-ending lies.
“By yourself?”
“Yeah. I needed to get away for a bit.”
He sighed. “I can relate to that.”
It was almost dark now, yet the white cresting waves crashing into the shore were still visible. I breathed in the salty sea air, and despite my jiggling boobs and exposed ass, I felt completely comfortable with this situation. That admission was as powerful as a dose of adrenalin. “What do you do?”
“I’m an emergency dispatcher.”
I sucked the air between my teeth. “I bet that can be stressful.”
“Yes. Very.” Batman’s shoulders slumped.
The look of genuine anguish on what little I could see of his face made me decide there and then that I was going to give him the perfect escape from real life. And what better way to do it than a little role-playing? “Well, Batman, maybe tonight we can rescue each other.”
He smiled down at me, and I liked what I saw. “Sounds like a plan to me.”
The solar-powered lights that dotted the walking path flickered on, casting a golden glow over his profile. Batman was head-to-toe in costume; the only parts of his body that were visible were his lips, chin, and eyes. His two-day growth indicated he had dark hair; his strong jawline had me believe he was handsome; and he was very tall, at least eight inches taller than me. Even in my heels he was taller than me.
From what little I saw of Batman, he was the epitome of tall, dark, and handsome.
Before we entered the lobby, I made sure I was positioned on Batman’s right-hand side. This ensured that when we crossed the marble expanse, his broad frame would hide most of my body from Marjorie’s inquisitive gaze.
We rode the elevator in silence and arrived on the second floor.
The instant we entered his room, he was on me.
He pinned me against the wall with my hands above my head, and his tongue was down my throat. The speed of it shocked me, and it was a few frightful seconds before my brain kicked into gear, and my years of Karate training took over.
I rammed my knee into his groin, and howling, he released my hands.
I karate-chopped out of his embrace and kicked the back of his knees.
He tumbled to the floor.
Oh shit!
It happened so quickly; I scared the crap out of myself.
Chapter Six
Batman rolled to his side, clutching his groin. His eyes bulged, showing he was in as much shock as I was. “What the hell was that for?”
I decided that maintaining my character was the only way to get through this and put my foot on his hip. “I’m in charge here, bad boy.”
