I just nodded and headed for the door.

Somehow, I made it to my room, undressed, removed my wig and makeup, and stepped into the shower. As the hot needles of water pummeled my body, I rehashed everything that had happened during the last hour. My thoughts bounced from exquisite sensations rolling through my body to mind-numbing terror.

It was a wonder my heart was still beating.

I dried myself, flopped onto the bed, grabbed my phone, and dialed Lolita.

“Hey, babe, I was so worried about you. I called you twice. Are you okay?” Lolita spoke at a million miles an hour.

“No.” Tears pooled in my eyes as I paced the room and told her everything from my choice of lingerie to Billy’s confession.

“Oh, babe. Don’t cry. It’s not that bad.”

“I feel terrible.”

“Okay, sit down for me.”

I sat on the edge of my bed. “I am.”

“Let’s go through this logically.”

I wiped a tear from my cheek. “Okay.”

“Right, first up, are you dating, engaged, married, or have you pledged your love to either Billy or Clayton?”

“Lolly, this is serious.”

“I am being serious. So, what’s your answer?”

I rolled my eyes. “No, I haven’t pledged my love to either of them.”

“Have you had sex with either of them?”

Although this was my third time with Billy, I still hadn’t had sex with him. “No.”

“Was your morning with Billy fucking hot?”

I chuckled. “Yes.”

“And he knew it was Jane he was with the whole time?”

“I think so.”

“So, what are you worried about? You’re not cheating on anyone, and I’d say Billy likes Jane just as much as Memphis. So, your secret is safe.”

I sat cross-legged on the bed and scowled at my disastrous peeling toenail polish. “Are you sure?”

“I’m not just sure. I’m one hundred percent positive.”

I flopped back on the quilt as relief washed over me. “Okay.”

“Do you feel better now?”

I sighed. “Yes. Much better, thank you.”

“Babe, you really aren’t doing anything wrong. You’re a single woman playing the field a bit and loving every minute of it. Sex is a good thing, and just because you’re not dating a guy doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get it. Besides, what will we talk about next year when your challenge is over?”

She laughed, and as I laughed with her, the final shred of my doubt evaporated. “You’ll just have to give me a whole new challenge.”
