Page 76 of Tempt Me

I chose a red G-string that just about matched the color of my dress. I couldn’t wear a bra with this outfit, but that was okay—I was actually beginning to like the feel of boob-wobble when in Memphis mode.

I matched the dress with a pair of black and white patterned strappy heels that I’d never worn. Another positive about my raunchy escapades was that all my unworn pairs of shoes were finally getting a memory to go with them.

After a quick glance in the mirror, I applied a slick of Mac Chili Red lipstick. The black hair and red dress contrasted beautifully. I smiled, smiled some more, blew myself a kiss and then grabbed my bag and headed to my six-foot stranger waiting for me two floors up.

As I rode the painfully slow elevator alone, I jiggled on my toes, testing my boob wobble in the mirror. This simple little move that used to horrify me gave me a lovely thrill of freedom. My life had changed in so many ways this year, and it was getting better and better.

I strode to David’s room without any trepidation. After all, he was waiting for me.

At his door, I rubbed my lips together, smoothing out my lippy one last time, then knocked twice.

I heard a crash of something, and within two seconds, the door opened.

David was practically gasping for breath in the open doorway. “Oh, my god, Memphis, you came.”

I looked up at him, once again surprised by his height. “Hi, David. May I come in?”

“Yes. Yes.” He stepped aside, and I eased past him. I strode to the table, flung my bag over the back of the chair, and turned his way.

As he ran his fingers through his thick dark hair, the door clicked closed. “I never thought I’d see you again.”

I cupped my hands in front of me, acting coy. “You were wrong.”

David wore a navy long-sleeved linen shirt with white buttons and a pair of khaki chinos. He looked so much more stylish than the last time I’d seen him.

“You look different,” I said.

A giant grin lit up his face. “It’s because of you. After we . . . were together, I felt like I could walk on water. I’ve lost weight. My sisters took me shopping for clothes, and I shaved off my mustache.”

The mustache. That’s right. That’s what was so different. His mustache would have given Tom Selleck a run for his money. “You look really good.” His enthusiasm was contagious, and I grinned.

“Thank you.”

I wriggled my eyebrows and stepped up to him, placing my hands on his chest. “Mmmm, you’ve been working out.”

“I’ve joined a gym, and I go four times a week.” His voice faltered as I undid a couple of buttons on his shirt.

“You changed me, Memphis, in ways you’ll never know.”

“Mmmm.” He sure was chatty. If my memory served me right, he was practically speechless the last time I was this close to him. I tugged his shirt open and was surprised to see a silver chain with a black crystal dangling between his superbly defined pectoral muscles.

“What have we here?”

His Adam’s apple bobbed up and down. “My sister bought it for me. It’s meant to bring good luck.”

I ran my hands up his chest. “Is it working?”

He nodded and swallowed loudly.

I smelled both toothpaste and his musky cologne as I leaned forward and ran my tongue over his nipple. David drew in a sharp breath, and his entire body tensed as I dug my fingers into either side of his torso and flitted my tongue from his left nipple to his right. “You taste so good.”

He gripped my shoulders. “Oh God, please Memphis, stop.”

I stepped back and blinked at him.

“Sorry, it’s just. . . I’d like to ask a favor.”

I frowned as twenty questions flitted through my brain in a nanosecond. “Okay.”
