“Jane’s naked under her trenchie.”

Oh jeez. I wanted crawl away and hide.

Calvin grinned a deviant smile as he returned to the table with a champagne bottle and three flutes. “Okay, I’m ready,” he said.

“Really? Do I have to tell you?” I groaned at him.

“Shit, yeah. I’m here for you, you know that.” Calvin’s gorgeous profile was enhanced with his look of deep concern.

I grumbled, but I knew I they would never let me out of this. Calvin handed me a full glass of bubbles and I swigged a huge mouthful before I sat back, sighed, and accepted the inevitable.

I gulped the rest of my champagne and huffed. “Okay, so I met this guy.”

“What did he look like?” Lolly was insatiable, and I glared at her impatience.

“Sorry,” she said. “Carry on.”

“His name was Dylan. He’s a boat broker, and I’d describe him as James Bond meets Bear Grylls.”

Calvin frowned, but Lolly snapped her fingers. “Oooh, nice. So, I’m picturing suave and sophisticated, yet hunky and brawn.”

I nodded. “Yeah.” She’d nailed him. “For some crazy reason, I decided to wear just my boots and knickers, with my trenchie over the top.”

“Holy fuck, that’s hot. Right, babe?” Lolly turned to Calvin, and all I wanted to do was cover my ears and yellla la laat the top of my voice so I couldn’t hear his answer.

I carried on, determined to get the humiliation over as quickly as possible. “Anyway, I went to his room.” I squeezed my palms over my eyes so I couldn’t see their reaction. “After we finished, I put my boots and coat on and headed to the elevator. Needledick was in there.”

“Oh, fuck! I bet you just died.”

“Yep.” I held my empty glass toward Calvin, and he filled it.

I drank a big gulp of liquid sanity before I carried on. “Needledick pointed his finger at me and said he’d seen me before and then said they didn’t accept people like me in the hotel.”

“Like you? What did he mean?” Calvin frowned.

“A hooker.” I bulged my eyes, annoyed that I had to state the obvious.

“What?” Lolly gasped. “He’s an ass. You don’t look like a hooker. You look fucking hot. Right, Cal?

“Sure do.” His grin got ridiculously big.

“Needledick is just jealous that some other lucky bastard in the hotel got laid. What happened then?”

“He asked me what room I was staying in. So, I called him a creep and told him it was none of his business.”

“Then what?” Calvin leaned forward.

I giggled, barely able to believe what I’d done next.

“What? What?” Lolly pushed forward on her seat and gripped my arm.

“He said he was the hotel manager, and I said yeah, just like I was Daenerys Targaryen, mother of dragons. Then the elevator opened, and I raced out of the building.”

Calvin and Lolly roared with laughter, and couldn’t help but laugh with them, too.

“That’s fucking gold.” She held her glass toward me, and we chinked them together. “You, my girlfriend, are an absolute riot.”

“Man, I’d love to have seen his face,” Calvin said.
