CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO
SHINER
I’m going to spank her ass red when I find her. She’ll be lucky if she can even sit for a week by the time I’m done with her. I’m totally pissed with her for leaving our bed the way she did.
We know where she’s heading. One of the prospects is right behind the car she got in, and Keys was tracking her phone. He told me the moment she made a call to Sasha. I’m kicking myself for not finding out what she planned earlier. She’d been hiding something, and I knew it. I should have confronted her and found out what the fuck she was up to, but I didn’t. I let it slide when I shouldn’t have. Now, she’s on her way somewhere she shouldn’t be.
Throughout the night, while inside her, I took her until I thought she’d be exhausted. Hell, she’d been near comatose when I finally came inside her. The very fact she was able to get out of bed and leave not even two hours later pisses me off further. She waited. Napped maybe. Still, she left me sleeping and took my fuckin’ favorite knife with her.
It’s not a foregone conclusion what she’s planning to do, but her going to her sister is fuckin’ with our plans to take the bitch and the others out all at once.
“Brother, this could work in our favor,” Blow mutters from next to me.
My brothers and I piled into one of the cargo vans. We didn’t need to follow behind on our bikes. To do this, we needed to do it right. Not be detected and put them on alert that we’re coming. No one can know, not even Olive.
Fuck me.
If only she’d damn well waited. She was a part of the plan along. We just had to refine the damn thing to make it work. But what the fuck does she do, goes and runs. I’m sure she’s thinking of handling this on her own, which scares the fuck out of me. Olive is sweet and delicate. Enough has happened to her in the past, she doesn’t need this shit on her.
“She’s going to get herself killed,” I mutter.
She was meant to be in on the plan. I was going to tell her tomorrow, well, later today, but she up and moved shit along ahead of schedule.
“We’re going to make sure that doesn’t happen,” Nines grumbles. “Promise you, brother, she’s not going to get hurt.”
“Appreciate you saying that, VP. But do me a favor and don’t promise shit we know can’t be kept for sure. Anything can happen when we get in there.” I don’t want to think of the potential scenarios of what could happen.
“They’re coming to a stop,” Griz announces from the driver’s seat.
“Pull off. Don’t let them know we’re following.” We can’t risk being detected. Not yet, anyway.
Leaning forward between the two front seats, I watch out the windshield as the driver’s door opens. The man sitting there turns to the back door and opens it just as another vehicle approaches from the opposite direction. Olive is switched from one vehicle to the other.
“The hell is going on here?” Blow growls.
“Why move her from one vehicle to another?” Lucky quips.
“They’re playing games.” And I don’t fucking like it. No one bit.
The more games played, the higher the risk to Olive.
The second vehicle does a turnaround and starts down the road. The other stays parked on the side, and we move to follow, not without risk of being seen.
Fuck.
“Keys, tell me you’re still able to track her,” The snarl that comes from my lips matches the fury racing through my veins.
“I’ve got her, brother,” Keys informs me. “They’re speeding out of town.”
“Where the fuck are they heading?” Scorn asks. “They can’t be going that far, could they?”
“Don’t know, but I’m about to say fuck it and go after her.” I don’t like that they’re getting far away from us.
“Don’t make us lock you down, Shiner,” Blow states warningly. “We’ll do it, and you know it. Keep your shit in check.”
“I’m keeping it in check.” I push through gritted teeth. I might not like it, but I’m not about to let them lock me down.
No way in hell that will happen.
