She had brought him to the brink of a powerful climax..

As if knowing he was about to explode she urgently devoured him. There was no denying her.

With spasm after spasm shuddering through his body, he let out a series of loud gravelly groans and erupted into her warm, inviting mouth…

Utterly drained, Donovan slowly opened his eyes. Phoebe was standing at the kitchen sink drinking a glass of water. Rising to his feet, he tucked his limp member back into his slacks, zipped them up, then ambled across the short space and wrapped her into a bear hug.

“That was…” he muttered, then paused, searching for the right words.

“A surprise?” she softly suggested.

“Most definitely.”

“It was a goodbye present, something to remember me by.”

“You can rest assured it’s engraved in my head, and not just while I’m gone. It’s a surprise I’ll never forget.”

“Donovan,” she murmured, shifting in his arms and smiling up at him. “I know a memorable moment when it happens too, and it will stay with me forever.”

“Let’s toast that with a fresh cup of tea,” he suggested, moving his arm around her shoulders and guiding her back to the table.

“When are you leaving?”

“I’m not sure. I think—” but before he could finish he was interrupted by the chiming of his phone. “Hold on, I’m about to find out,” he added, quickly lifting it from his pocket and accepting the call. “Hey, what’s the word?”

“Your plane and some helpful paperwork is waiting at the usual airfield,” Sam declared, “and you’ll be staying at a hotel called The Hamptons Hideaway. It’s high-end so dress appropriately.”

“I know The Hideaway. I stayed there a couple of years ago. It’s a good choice.”

“That’s why I picked it. You’ll be in one of the guest cottages. But Donovan, I have some excellent news. Fate seems to be on our side. Manny is throwing a big bash tomorrow night, and it’s a Masquerade Ball.”

“You’re kidding.”

“Nope. I’ll find a way to get you on the guest list and arrange a costume and a fake I.D. He’s bound to have tight security.”

“Maybe you’re right. Maybe fate is on our side. I’ll let our mutual friend know and head out.“

“I assume you mean Boris and you can’t mention his name because Phoebe is there.”

“That’s correct.”

“Do you want me to contact your personal assistant and send her over to keep Phoebe company until you get back. Or do you think we should move her?”

“Let’s keep the status quo for now, so yeah, get in touch with Nadia. If she has any questions tell her to call me.”

“Will do, but Donovan, you must stay in touch, and I mean continuously,” Sam said solemnly. “Don’t do one of your disappearing acts. This is a tough job. You need to keep me in the loop.”

“I’ll make a point of checking in. If more than twelve hours goes by and you haven’t heard from me, send in the cavalry.”

“Got it. Good luck. Call me once you’re checked into the hotel.”

“Will do. Bye.”

“I take it you’re leaving,” Phoebe said with a sigh as he ended the call.

“I’m afraid so. You can keep me company while I pack if you want.”
