He better enjoy it.
As soon as I get my hands on that motherfucker…
He’s dead.
Except for real, this time.
Getting a membership to the High Roller was the hardest part of my mission yet. I made sure to handle that on Sparrow’s day off to ensure we wouldn’t run into each other.
Music pounds around the dance floor, making it difficult to hear the ringing phone held to my ear.
“Kane.” Ranger answers the call in his normal bored and disinterested tone. “You know we have a date in just under two months.”
A shiver runs down my goddamn spine. That lunatic is one step past crazy if he thinks I’ll ever willingly step inside his basement again.
I hate thinking about when Sparrow disappeared.
Ranger stuck me in his basement for a month, but he didn’t torture me.
He didn’t even touch me, but the things I saw…
Well, let’s just say that I’d have to try my luck at taking his ass out before I let him lock me up down there again.
“I’ve got her,” I grind out, trying to shake away those memories. “Let me rephrase that. I’ve got my eyes on her right this very moment, but you’ll never believe who’s with her.”
“Who?”
“That merc the Andrettis hired to track her down. Only, he’s alive and well, and from the looks of it, very well acquainted with Sparrow.”
“Is that right?” he asks.
“Yes.”
“And where are you now?”
“Vegas. There’s a club called the High Roller. I’ve got a source who says she works in the high-roller room. From the looks of it, it’s an all-purpose club. It’s not just gambling. I’m pretty sure it doubles as a sex club.”
“You’re telling me my little sister is willingly working in a sex club?”
“Yeah, but she serves drinks and watches for card counters.” I tell him the info I got from her roommate.
“And Raiden Michaels found Sparrow?” Ranger asks. “He didn’t complete the bounty put on her by the Andrettis, but he also failed to notify me?”
“Yup. He obviously faked his own death,” I say what we’re both thinking.
“And you don’t believe he’s a threat to her?” he asks.
My head tilts as the merc formally known as Raiden Michaels slides his hand up the back of Sparrow’s flirty little club dress.
It would be dumb to admit that I found her five days ago.
That might push Ranger over the edge, but from the looks of it, Michaels isn’t a threat to her at all.
“It doesn’t appear he is,” I say cautiously.
“You know I’ve just announced to the world who I’ve got in my home.” Ranger sighs. “I’m expecting a full-scale assault by the two remaining Andretti brothers at any time.”
“Right,” I agree.
