“But I didn’t give you all my bills.”
He knelt in front of her. “No. But I told you I’d pay them all.”
“How’d you even know about these others?”
He smiled. “I’m resourceful.” He took her hands. “Chelsea, you’re debt free.”
It felt like an anvil had been lifted off her chest, replaced with a lightness, a giddiness that even the reality of a fake marriage couldn’t ruin.
She looked into Jagger’s dazzling blue eyes through her own watery ones. “Thank you. Thank you.” She threw her arms around him, letting the happiness and relief wash over her.
“You’re welcome.” His arms held her and his face nuzzled her neck.
She pulled back. “I didn’t realize how amazing this would feel.” Her words came out in a rush, and she followed them by pressing her lips to his. Once their mouths touched, happiness morphed into desire. Her lips parted and invited him in. He accepted her invitation and his tongue, hot and wet, danced with hers. He tasted divine, like champagne and Jagger.
His hands slid over her nightshirt and cupped her breasts, letting his thumb brush over the already-hardened peaks. She moaned and arched to him. Even as the warning flags waved in her brain, she couldn’t push him away.
“Tell me you want this.” His voice was harsh, nearly a growl, as he pulled her tight against him so she could feel how badly he wanted her pressed against her belly.
Yes! Her hormones screamed louder than her common sense.
A loud knock sounded on the door. “Jagger.”
“Go to bed, Kaden.” Jagger resumed kissing her, while lifting her and making his way to the bed.
“I wanna come in.”
Jagger growled and pulled away, stalking to the door.
Chelsea shook her head out of its daze.
“You’re supposed to be in bed.”
Kaden peeked around Jagger. “I wanted to see Miss Chelsea. Can I have a sleepover with you?”
“No.”
Kaden looked at Jagger, his eyes wide at Jagger’s terseness. Jagger let out a breath. “You have your own room.”
In the few seconds away from Jagger’s skillful lips and hands, Chelsea’s senses returned. The ramifications of what had nearly happened hit her full force and she sank to the bed. Once again, she had nearly let herself have sex with Jagger. After she’d told herself she wouldn’t even though she wanted to. Really badly. If it weren’t for the marriage, she wouldn’t be sleeping with him. So she needed to stay firm.
“Why don’t you let him stay?”
Jagger shot her an annoyed glare.
“It’s our first night as a family. He’s part of it.” She hoped he understood she meant Kaden was the whole reason she was there.
He let out a breath. “One night.”
“Yay!” Kaden ran, throwing himself on the bed. “I get the middle.”
Chelsea chanced a glance at Jagger.
“I’ll be right back.” He stalked into the bathroom and she heard the shower go on. She smiled, imagining he was having a cold shower. Then she chastised herself. She wasn’t supposed to get Jagger hot and bothered for her. Still, it did her ego good to know he was.
Chelsea hoveredbetween sleep and wakefulness, trying to orient herself to her surroundings. Where was she? The bed felt more comfortable than hers.
“Wanna play?” Jagger’s seductive masculine voice made her skin heat. He was spooned behind her, but not pressed to her.
