“Damn it,” Everett curses. “I’m so fucking sorry for this, baby.”
I’m not sure what he’s talking about, but a second later, Griffin swings my body around as a fist comes toward my face. And then everything goes black.
MY HEAD IS POUNDING. How much did I fucking drink?
I groan, trying to move my body, but it feels like my veins are filled with cement.
“Careful,” Everett murmurs, and I hiss when I feel something cold touch my face.
“What happened?” I grumble, trying to open my eyes, but I’m only able to get one to crack open.
“You got punched in the face.” His handsome face comes into view, sporting a grimace and a guilty look.
“Who fucking punched me in the face?” I groan again as he helps me sit up, placing the ice-pack beside me. I blink my open eye a few times, realizing we’re back at the hotel. I don’t even remember leaving the bar.
“Me,” he mutters.
I sigh, leaning back against the headboard.
“Why the—”
“It was the only way to get you to stop. You were losing it, man. I’ve never seen you that manic before. Not since...” He looks away, focusing on putting the ice back on my eye. When I don’t automatically raise my hand to hold it, he grabs my wrist, slapping my palm against the ice pack until I’m holding it on my own. He won’t meet my gaze, but I know what he means. Not since the night I almost ruined all of our lives.
And then everything from the night comes crashing in. “Jade.” My pulse picks up, and I try to get out of bed, but Everett shoves me down.
“Stop. Please don’t make us have to sedate you,” he growls.
“Why the fuck are we at the hotel? Our omega is back at the club.”
Our omega. Holy shit, she’s our omega.
Not only did Jade not end up becoming a beta like everyone thought she would, she became an omega. And not just any omega. Our omega.
“She’s our omega,” I whisper, blinking at him in utter shock.
“She is.” He smiles softly. “She’s our scent match, too. I told you.”
When I grabbed Jade, her peaches and cream scent hit me like a punch in the gut. Everything inside me shifted. My heart and soul belonged to her, but this just cemented what I already knew.
“She’s an omega,” I breathe, staring off to the side. “She’s an omega, and she’s possibly been exposed to the dangers of this world possibly for fucking years!”
“Zane.” Everett gives my knee a squeeze. “You need to relax. You're finally in a better head space. I need you here so we can talk about what we’re going to do.”
“What we’re going to do is get Jade.”
“Yes,” he agrees, sounding frustrated with me. “But we can’t just barge in there, demanding that she comes with us. It’s been years. We need to sit down, talk to her, find out where she’s been this whole time. Find out what the fuck happened.”
“And why she thought she could fucking disappear from our lives. When I get my hands on her, Rett, I’m gonna spank her ass so damn red she won’t be able to sit for a week,” I snarl, but the idea of Jade draped over my legs, ass in the air, with her pussy on display has my cock going rock hard.
“Fuck.” Everett’s eyes widen with desire as he smells my arousal.
“Now, who needs to focus?” I raise a brow.
“Shit.” He shakes his head. “You and that damn dick,” he sighs. “Look, this is obviously a shock to us all, and I can only imagine what Jade is feeling right now. The biggest thing is getting her to talk to us.”
“Where is Griffin?” I ask, looking around to see he’s not here. Just as Everett is about to answer, Griffin comes bursting into the room.
“Okay, so here’s what I found.” He slams the door behind him, striding over to us. I lower the ice that Rett placed on my face, and he cringes. “Oh, fuck. That's ugly.”
