I ignored the rest of them and moved closer to her. “Say yes, Gia.”
“Say yes to what?” she shifted Ryan, adjusting his head closer to her neck.
“To marry me.”
“Marry him, Gia!” Nikolai hollered.
“Say yes, Gianna!” the women cheered.
“Oh my God,” she laughed harder now, her eyes flickering to my hand. “You didn’t even get a ring?”
Double shit.
I had to play it cool. “Fuck the ring. I’ll get you a thousand of those tomorrow.” I cupped her cheeks. My shoulder hurts more. If I was being extremely truthful, Daylan did weigh more than I expected him to, but there was no fucking way I would admit that. Not after the speech.
Back to Gianna…
“What matters is us, in this very moment, and the decision we make, okay?” I couldn’t remember the last time I wanted something this badly. “There is no other woman for me, Gianna. I would choose you over and over again. So, what do you say? Will you marry me?”
Chapter 27 - Gianna
Wedding bells and happy laughter. A colorful bouquet and dark suits. Tall men, grim lips, blue eyes, dark hair; similar everywhere, but only his stood out. He looked so sinfully handsome in a black suit with a black tie knotted nicely around his neck. He was so handsomely delicious that I wanted to pounce on him the second I got the chance.
He watched me, his eye never leaving mine, even now as I danced in circles with Lillianna, Giselle, and Mariana.
And not earlier at the church. The intensity of his gaze seared hot on my skin when we stood at the altar to exchange our vows of forever.
I promise to be there…
To never leave your side.
The taste of his soft lips on mine burned in my memory, and I thought I would melt when he cradled my neck, wound his arm around my waist, and kissed me like it was the most important thing in the world—claiming me possessively and holding my hand tightly when I was reintroduced to society as Mrs. Vadim.
I knew long ago that I always belonged to him, but now, even the entire world knew it, and we had proof.
The skies grew darker and the tunes, faster.
Our laughter rang out, the band holding my hair together loosened, and I held the skirt of the white lacy gown as we threw our hands up in the air and slid and twirled in a discombobulated choreography. It might have been the most disorganized dance anyone would have ever seen at a wedding, but I didn’t care.
It didn’t matter; our joy did.
I tossed the bouquet mindlessly towards a group of pale blondes by the corner, standing with a few of my husband’s guests.
My husband.
Even thinking about it felt satisfying.
The widest smile played on my lips when I saw our sons by the corner, playing with their cousins. This was what I always wanted, for them to be part of a family that truly loved them. A family that would give up everything to make sure my boys were loved and cared for, even I wasn’t there.
I found Maxim sipping wine with his brothers and cousins. When his eyes met mine, they stayed locked in a time capsule where only the two of us existed.
He looked so happy, someone would have thought he’d won a jackpot.
He was perfect, with all the flaws and imperfections; he was just right for me. And I loved him. A whip of heat settled below my stomach, and I turned my eyes away to quell the quick spread between my legs.
It only made sense that I would accept his proposal. I couldn’t imagine what else might have been if Maxim wasn't my destiny.
