I smile. “Thanks for warning me there were twins in our family.”

A doctor comes out and walks over to me. “Sir, your wife is looking for you.”

“Yes, yes.” I hurry back to the room where Hannah is resting now. She’s been cleaned up and looks far more comfortable.

“Love,” she says. “Are you glad you waited for the surprise? Two boys.”

“Definitely, love. I was thinking of another boy name already.”

“Whatever you want, love, as long as one is named Kiran Johnathan after my dad and grandfather.”

I kiss her deeply. “Pierrick Kervyn. We’ll call him PK.”

She smiles. “That’s a lovely name.” She reaches up and cups my face. “That was the worst pain I’ve ever experienced. Compared to that, I’d rather be kidnapped again.”

“You did so well, babe. You were so brave.”

I turn as Kervyn knocks on the door. “Hey, Hannah,” he says. You look pretty good for someone who’s just given birth to two big boys.”

“You knew!” I say. “You knew they were boys.”

“Everyone knew,” Danil says as he walks in. “Only you didn’t know.”

I look at Hannah. “I wanted to be prepared for boys, but I wanted it to surprise you.”

I shake my head and smile. “All right, you all got me. Well done.”

Everyone steps aside as the nurse’s wheel in one incubator with both twins in, and instantly, all the people in the room are fawning over the babies.

I see my mother go around the bed to Hannah, and she takes out a hairbrush. She sits beside her and brushes her curls out, and Hannah looks so grateful. I smile, go to her other side, and take her hand. “I love you so much.”

“You better help her with the boys,” Mama says. “You mustn’t think that you can just leave a woman to raise their children alone. Your father did that to me, and it was unfair.”

“You know I’m beside her every step of the way, Mama.”

She nods, takes out some wet wipes, and wipes Hannah’s face. She looked cleaned up before, but now she starts to look refreshed.

“My parents…” she starts to say.

“I’ll let them know the boys are born,” I say, already getting used to the idea. “Your parents are welcome to stay with us anytime.”

“They still think I’ve married a billionaire,” she jokes. “If only they knew.”

“Technically, I am a billionaire.” I look over at the babies and then look at the nurse. “Can I hold one of my sons?”

“Why don’t you take your shirt off? Skin-to-skin contact is important for the baby,” she says. She gets one of the babies and unswaddles him, bringing him to me. I sit in the chair beside Hannah’s bed, and the nurse puts the baby in my arms. “This is PK, I can tell.”

“Then can I have KJ,” Hannah says. The nurse brings him to her, and we sit there and marvel at what we’ve created.

Kervyn clears his throat. “Why don’t we give them some time with the kids? We can take turns visiting them when they’re home. Let’s not overwhelm them.”

“That’s about the smartest thing you’ve said,” Penny grins.

Kervyn smiles down at her and puts an arm around her shoulders. “Come on, mistress of evil.” He leads her out of the room. Danil, Asher, and Arseny say their good-byes. My mother doesn’t move at first, and when she does stand, she looks at Hannah. “I’m going to make sure you’re absolutely ready for the twins to come home. Stock you up on supplies. You can never be too ready.”

“Thank you, Mama,” Hannah says. She looks so tired.

My mother leaves, and I look over at Hannah. “Look what you did.”
