“No, I’m sure they’re sufficiently schooled,” Danil says. He holsters his gun. “Asher.” He goes to hug and kiss her deeply. “Don’t fucking do that.”

Penny rushes to Kervyn, throws her arms around his neck, and kisses him deeply.

I drop the shotgun and go to where Hannah is standing.

“We did that.” She looks at me. “We escaped on our own, and Asher and Penny kicked ass.”

I look at her pleadingly. “I’m so sorry, Hannah. I’m sorry this keeps happening. I’ll find you a new identity, and you and the baby can go live somewhere safe and live a new life.”

“Do you know what I thought about the entire time that we were captured,” she says, looking at me seriously. “How I’m never going to see you again. And that broke me.”

I look at her, stunned, and then she flings her arms around my neck and kisses me passionately.

I pull her against me and kiss her hungrily.

“So we’re not getting divorced?” I ask quietly as she pulls away.

“No, but I do want to learn how to shoot like Penny.”

“Deal, come on. Let’s get home.”

We all climb into the cars. Hannah and I take the Audi with Danil and Asher.

We drop them off at home, and then we go back to my house. “I guess now I have to move everything into your room.”

I glance at Hannah and smile. “Do you still want to have a huge wedding?”

“The sooner, the better, Luka.” She smiles and kisses me again. “I never thought I could be as brave as I was today. And I get it, life is never going to be quiet, but when I thought I wouldn’t see you again, I just… something inside me broke. I know we’re supposed to be together.”

“So you’re not going to ask me to leave the family business?” I ask quietly, taking her hands in mine.

“No, but the family is going to do a lot of charity work,” she says, looking up at me. “So I can balance the karma out.”

I nod. “I could use some good karma in my corner. Deal.”

She stands on her toes and kisses me softly, pressing our noses together.

I run my hands all over her back, and then when I let her go, she looks up at me. “Come to bed with me,” she says. “I don’t want to waste one more moment.”

I grin and follow her upstairs.

Chapter 27 - Hannah

I’m glad I’m not showing yet and that Penny and Asher could help me put my wedding together so quickly. My parents didn’t even mind that it was so soon. They’re just happy there’s an actual wedding. Not to mention, they’re excited about the baby.

I’m so excited. I’m more excited than I thought I could ever be. Everything is absolutely perfect. The dress flatters my figure, my hair is on point, and I, of course, did my own makeup, so it's flawless. I went with a Russian ball gown made in white with puffy sleeves and made with so many crystals and diamantes. My hair is curled up into an up style while I have a fringe brushed forward and to the side.

My mother walks into the room and gasps. “Oh, you look so beautiful, darling.”

“She does, doesn’t she?” Meryl says as she follows in. “She was always meant to wear this dress.”

“Thank you, guys,” I say with a grin. “Is Luka nervous?”

“He’s quaking in his boots, but mostly it's nerves about being in front of so many people.”

Asher and Penny come into the room as well, dressed in their bridesmaid’s dresses. Meryl is my maid of honor. They all look perfect in their frosty blue dresses. Asher is carrying the bouquet for me.

My mother comes over and pulls the veil over my face. “No one needs to know,” she whispers conspiratorially.
