"Okay, where is Don?" I say to myself and look around the restaurant.

"I think I saw him make his way back into the kitchen," a voice says beside me and I feel a hand slide into mine. I look up and see Kurt standing beside me, smiling down at me. I close my hand around his, holding on.

Chapter 69

Juliana

"Hi," I say softly, smiling back at him.

"Hi," he repeats back to me. We stand smiling at each other a few seconds longer until I hear someone a bit away asking another guest if there would be more food. I snap back to my mission of finding Don.

"Come with me?" I ask and Kurt nods. We make our way to the kitchen. Hand in hand. "Don," I stop at the door to the kitchen and Don turns to face me.

"Ah Juli, enjoying the party?" Don asks and makes his way over to Kurt and me. I hand him the key to his office and thank him quietly, he smiles and nods.

"It's lovely. We were wondering if it's possible to get another round of food for the evening?" I answer.

Don nods his head and gestures to the kitchen staff hard at work. "I noticed you all were getting low so I've already got them started on it."

"Great! Thank you so much! Oh and please know that you all are invited to join us when you have the time. A personal invitation from the bride." Don turns to the kitchen staff and repeats the news of the invite and there are a couple of cheers and the noise of their workstations grows louder as they pick up the pace.

"We would be delighted to join you all. Now, if you'll excuse me, I think I will go help my team so we can get the food out quicker and get to the party quicker." Don excuses himself to go join the line of workers and Kurt tugs me back outside the kitchen. With the door shut behind us, he leans me against the wall next to it.

"So," Kurt starts, looking down at me

"So," I say back.

"We love each other," he begins again and I nod my head in agreement. "I asked you to move in with me." Again I nod. "And what was your response to that?" He asks me, smiling.

"Yes," I say, "of course."

"Of course," Kurt continues to hold my hand but his free hand trails lightly down my arm. "I think that means we are back together. What do you say?"

"Is that your way of asking me to be your girlfriend?" I tease him, looking up into his eyes. “Your official, real girlfriend?” My smile grows as Kurt looks at me with lots of love in his eyes, something I had been so blind to before.

"Yes, I believe it is. Or," he pauses and reaches into his pocket and brings out a small, familiar box. I gasp a little. "Or maybe it's me asking you to be my wife, again" he adds, referring to the fake engagement in front of our friends and family and the nonexistent engagement before that.

"We shouldn't do that here..." I whisper, looking around at Tatyana and Mike's engagement party with wide eyes. I don't want to take away from their evening.

"I don't care," Kurt tells me honestly.

"We don't care either," another voice says and I look over to see Tatyana and Mike have appeared beside us and they are both grinning. No one else notices the four of us back here by the kitchen. I smile at Tatyana. And then at Mike. Then I look back up at the handsome man standing right in front of me and my heart grows with love for him and my friends.

"So?" Kurt asks. "Will you be my fiancée, for real this time? Will you marry me, Juliana?" He pauses to wait for my answer. I look over at my best friend again and she nods excitedly. I can see her bouncing on her toes a bit. Mike tries to hold her down so as to not draw attention to the group.

"Yes," I breathe out in a whisper. "Yes." I try again, my voice stronger, confident. "Yes!"

"Yes?" Kurt repeats. I nod and grin at him. I hold out my left hand and with slightly shaking fingers, Kurt slides the ring back onto my finger. "This is where this ring belongs."

"I love you," I tell Kurt.

"I love you," Kurt grips my hand in his and slides one arm behind my back pulling me close to him. I tilt my head back looking up at him. I don't know what else to say, I'm too shocked and excited. Luckily I don't have a chance to speak before Kurt leans down and kisses me. The first kiss for the start of our future. Or I guess we did make out a little earlier in the evening but this is different. This is officially my fiancé.

Kurt pulls back and Tatyana takes the opportunity to grab me. Squealing, she pulls me into a tight hug. Even bigger than before. Mike congratulates Kurt then hugs me as well when Tatyana finally lets go.

"Oh my gosh, we have to tell everyone!" Tatyana looks so excited and I love my best friend for wanting to announce it during HER engagement party. But I don't want to tell anyone yet.

"Let's wait," I say, looking at all of them. "I want to enjoy this for a while before we have to tell anyone else." I look over at Kurt and he smiles at me then nods in agreement.
