“Oh, but I would,” he whispers darkly. “See, you are mine, even temporarily, and I don’t like it when you’re naughty.”

“Sin, you’ve known me for all of one day,” I hiss at him and try to swat him with my other hand.

Abort! Abort!

My coat tears, and I slap my hand on the window frame and hold it tighter.

“Your point?” He peels my finger up again.

“Please.”

“Oh, princess, I love to hear you beg, but it won’t work this time.” He peels another finger up, holding two of them away from the frame.

“I’ll never run again.”

“You will.” He leans in. “Don’t worry, I’ll let you run from me. We can make it a game.”

“You are supposed to be the playful one,” I mutter.

“This is playful, Sawyer.” He licks my cheek and looks over my shoulder. “That’s a bit of a drop.”

“I know!” I don’t move my head away from his mouth because, damn it, I might fall if I move too quickly, and the last thing I want is a broken bone. That means I’d need a healer or a beta hospital, and I don’t want to get stuck in a cast. No, thank you. “What do I have to do to get you to bring me back into the bathroom?”

“Oh, my sweet and innocent Sawyer.” Sin crouches before me. “Let this be a lesson.” My eyes widen as I realize he isn’t about to just pull me inside. “Don’t disobey us again. After all, we are now your pack.”

“This isn’t funny,” I hiss. “You are all just playing house with me.”

“There’s genuine fear in your voice, Sawyer. Do you want to talk about it?” He’s mocking me!

“Do you want to talk about your omega?” I retort, because if he thinks he’s going to use me to replace her, he’s out of his fucking mind.

“You’re right,” he says, appearing thoughtful. “I don’t want to talk.” In the next breath, he flips my hands off the window frame.

My coat rips, and I tumble out of it. My body twists, and I scramble to grab it. It’s pointless. I’m tumbling to the ground, and I can’t even prepare myself for impact.

Luckily, arms catch me, and the scent of tequila burns my nose.

“Baby girl, I told you not to do anything stupid, and jumping out of a window is classified as stupid.” Rumor swings me around and pushes me against the side of the wall.

A car honks as it passes us, but I don’t care. My entire body tingles with adrenaline and fear. I can’t control it, and I shudder.

“He let me fall,” I squeak out.

“You were never in any danger,” he assures me.

“I didn’t know that!”

He bites my bottom lip. “You weren’t in any danger,” he says again before kissing me.

His lips devour mine, and he presses me hard against the cold building. My shirt is flimsy at best, and the cold air rushes through it. My nipples pebble from the chill, but my body warms from the way Rumor kisses me.

Passion explodes through me as he deepens the kiss, taking control in every little way, and all I can do is hold on to him. Rumor kisses with a calculation that embodies his personality—controlling, dominating, and commanding my complete and utter surrender.

“Hello!” I hear Sin shout. “Nothing to see here.”

Rumor pulls away, his eyes dark and hungry.

“I say we punish her right here.” Bryn leans against the wall, waving at another car passing by.
