Page 90 of These Pucking Boys

“I told Lachy it was a stupid idea,” Ryan says from behind us. “Sorry, Peaches.”

Lachy is still holding me, so all I can do is look over my shoulder. Ryan and Jake are now standing near the kitchen.

“It’s okay.” I turn to Lachy. “But be warned, there will be payback.”

His brows arch, followed by a slow and sensual grin that tugs the corners of his lips. “I can’t wait.”

He surprises me when he leans down and kisses me. It’s the first time he’s done so in front of Ryan and Jake after our hotel room adventure. My heart is thundering now for different reasons. I surrender to his kiss, and to the yearning that’s been consuming me since these boys came into my life.

A throat clearing snaps me out of the haze, and heat spreads across my cheeks.

I pull back, stepping away from Lachy’s warm embrace. “Where’s the cake?”

“In the fridge.” Ryan walks to the kitchen, and I follow him, very much aware of Jake’s and Lachy’s gazes branding me.

Ryan sets the luscious cake on the counter, and my mouth waters. I’m glad I didn’t order dessert at the restaurant.

“That looks so good,” I say.

“Not as good as you,” Jake whispers in my ear in a voice as smooth as whiskey poured over ice. He’s behind me, and the proximity sends chills of desire down my spine.

“Thanks,” I murmur.

Ryan is smiling like a fiend when he asks, “How big?”

I blink fast. “What?”

He has the cake cutter hovering over his creation. “How much cake do you want, Peaches?”

“Oh, a small piece, please. Too much sugar before bed will keep me up all night.”

He chuckles, and I close my eyes for a second, realizing the double entendre.

“There you go.” He slides the plate to me with a very large piece of cake on it.

My eyes widen. “You call this small?”

“Trust me. You’ll lick the plate.”

Jake moves away from me but doesn’t go far. Lachy is also hovering nearby, and they’re all watching me. “You’re not going to eat?”

“We’re fine watching you.” Ryan smiles.

I put my hands on my hips and glower at the trio. “Oh heck no. There’s no chance I’ll eat cake alone while you watch. Now everyone get a piece and join me in the living room.”

I grab my plate and stride away from the kitchen. I could have gone to the dining table, which would be more practical, but then I’d have to choose a chair, and I’d be far away from one of the boys. So the couch it is.

Belatedly, it dawns on me that maybe they don’t like food in the living room, but then I remember they’re guys. Of course they eat while watching TV.

“Don’t you love when June is bossy, lads?” Lachy asks.

I look at them with my brow raised.

“Yes, very much so.” Jake keeps his piercing eyes trained on me, and I feel the intensity of that heated gaze down to my core.

I can’t eat cake alone for two reasons. One, I’d feel self-conscious stuffing my face while three gorgeous men watch me. And two, it’d be impossible to enjoy the dessert if desire is making me melt.

Ryan serves his roommates cake, then gets a plate for himself too before everyone joins me.
