With one hand still gripping her ass, I use the other to grab the back of her neck and bring her closer. Her mouth crashes into mine, and I kiss her with the force of unspoken promises to never hurt her.

I knew the moment I saw this woman that she was the only one for me, that she is something special I would be a fool to let get away. The more time I spend with her, the more I get to touch her and hold her like this and learn who she really is, the more I know there isn’t a day I ever want to spend without her.

My hips surge upward with ferocity and Spencer rips her mouth from mine, her head falling back against the wall as she moans with pleasure.

As I hold her tighter and fuck her harder, her nails dig into my skin, leaving red lines over my shoulders, but it’s when her hand covers my chest that heat sears through my heart and a howl echoes through my mind.

With the curse on my wolf broken, there’s no tattoo there, but there’s still pain. I don’t expect it, but more than that, Spencer’s touch soothes the aches within, healing what can’t be seen.

She doesn’t seem to notice my momentary agony, and I don’t stop pounding into her. Nothing else matters but her in my arms.

Not the past or what we’ve yet to face. It’s only me and her in this moment, right now and forever.

She brings her head back to mine, our foreheads resting together as she pants and shudders within my hold. “So close,” she whispers.

Her ankles tighten around my waist and with refocused efforts, I slam her into the wall, making cracks in the surface. Her cries grow louder, as do my grunts of need. She grabs my face and kisses me again, but this time the action only serves to quiet the sounds of her screams as she explodes around me.

It’s only a few more pumps and I’m falling off the cliff right after her. Sweat covers our bodies, and our hearts race in time with one another as we take a few minutes to catch our breath. By the time she pulls back, there’s a sideways grin on her face and she chuckles.

“We should do that more often,” she says, her fingers playing with the back of my hair.

I hold her tighter and growl. “As often as you’d like, Mate.”

She glances back. “But we should probably find somewhere else to fuck before we break Kasha’s shed.”

“I’ll build her a new one,” I say with a wink.

Spencer yawns and I expect her to try and wiggle free, but she leans her head against my chest. “I think I could fall asleep again after that, right here in your arms.”

“Then, I’ve done my job right.” I chuckle. “Let’s get you in bed.”

She frowns down at the mattress. “The couch was ten times more comfortable than that.”

She’s not wrong, but I don’t tell her that. “You can sleep on me.”

“Then, you won’t be comfortable.”

My eyes cast down, taking in her naked body. “I think I’ll be just fine.”

“You’re incorrigible.” She smacks my chest but makes no move to get away. “And here I thought you were chivalrous just a couple days ago.”

“Can’t I be both?” My brows waggle as I kneel onto the bed.

“I guess so.” She stretches out over me as soon as I lay down. The warmth of her body soaks into mine, and as I drape the comforter over her, she rests her head right beneath my chin. “Best pillow ever.”

Her words are already quieting, and I rub her back, lulling her to sleep.

There won’t be any more rest for me. Not when there’s no forgetting how much is on the line.

In the light of the morning, Natalia will have the spell we need to use against Kel. I’ll be taking my mate straight toward one of the most evil witches to ever exist.

As much as I know that bitch needs to die, everything about this plan feels wrong. Yet, the thought of running and hiding for the rest of our lives is just as unappealing.

Considering Spencer seems hell bent on a fight, that’s what I want to give her, but that doesn’t mean I don’t hold her tighter, hoping like hell we’re not about to make the biggest mistake of our lives.
