I tuck my arm under the duvet and bring us closer, slipping my leg between hers. ‘I’m not that kid anymore. I went looking for you, didn’t I?’

She nods. ‘You did, and I shouldn’t start the day by talking about that. Let’s start again.’ She kisses me with heat, runs her hand up my thigh, over my arse and up my spine. ‘Morning,’ she breathes when she pulls away.

‘That’s the best good morning I’ve ever had,’ I say.

She narrows her eyes suspiciously. ‘The best?’

‘Mmhmm.’

‘I’ve got a feeling other women have heard that.’

I shake my head. ‘Only you.’ And it’s true – at least, I don’t recall saying it to anyone else. ‘It was the night after we met, and I stayed in your dorm for the first time.’

Her hand moves over my breast as she lightly sucks at my neck.

I swallow. ‘And the next morning, you…’

Her mouth trails my chest until her tongue and teeth graze my nipple.

‘You, um … oh, God.’ I release a shuddery breath, an urgent throb in my groin.

‘Woke you up like this?’ Her hand snakes down my stomach and slips between my thighs, and I bite back a gasp. ‘Wet,’ she whispers before she kisses me hard and my entire body pulses. She straddles my thigh and slowly moves against me, her breath hot on my mouth as her lips hover over mine. Her fingers soon pick up pace, inviting my pelvis to rock, and she rubs harder against my thigh.

It’s warm in the flat with the morning summer sun filtering through the blinds and I throw off the duvet. Moisture builds along my hairline and our bodies are both sticky with sweat. My insides begin to sizzle, and our moans grow louder until we both can’t contain it any longer. For a glorious moment, we unravel, loud and breathless, before Holly falls against me with a satisfied sigh as my own body turns to mush.

I bury my face into her neck, my eyes stinging, and my chest fills with a gushing warmth. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

‘Still with me?’ she murmurs against my forehead, stroking my back with feathery fingertips.

I look at her and nod, too love struck to speak.

Her brows pull together. ‘Are you … are you crying?’

‘Just a little overwhelmed,’ I say, my voice thick with emotion.

Concern passes across her face. ‘Not too overwhelmed, I hope?’

‘No. Just the right amount.’

‘You’re adorable,’ she says.

I blush and push my face into her chest. ‘You are.’

‘Please tell me you don’t have to rush off today.’ She pulls away so we’re eye to eye.

‘No. Day off today.’

‘Could we maybe spend the day together?’ Her voice is tentative, like she expects me to say no.

I smile. ‘Definitely.’

Holly lets out a breath, almost like a sigh of relief. ‘Want to take me around some galleries and show off your art knowledge?’

Hearing that she wants to spend time doing one of my favourite things fills me with pure joy. ‘Really? You’d want to do that?’

‘Uh-huh.’ She wrinkles her nose. ‘I still don’t get some art. I could use a teacher.’

‘I always love an opportunity to show off my art knowledge, but staying here all day would be nice, too.’ And I don’t just mean for sex because the moment we leave, I’ll have to face reality, and I can’t burst our cocoon yet.
