“Fire her, or I’ll burn this place down,” I growl, before stomping out the door. Time to dispose of some low lifes.

“Come on, Little Sinner,” I whisper, helping her to her feet. I pull her jeans up, securing the belt around her waist. I keep her facing away from Eli as he twitches on the floor.

She turns into my arms, burying her face against my chest. The blood that covers her back is a gruesome reminder of what I’ve just done. I’m sixteen, and I always knew the life I would live one day would lead to this.

William is my best friend, and even though he’s fucking insane, he hasn’t killed anyone yet. I call William first, keeping Roxy tucked against my chest.

“Storm?” he asks, because he’s in the middle of an important trade here in the city. He knows I’m aware of that, and that I wouldn’t call for no reason.

“I just killed your uncle.” I look down at his body. He’s clutching his neck breathing heavily, his eyes wild as his mouth gasps open like a fish. He’s pissed himself, and given the stench, shit himself too. “Well, he’ll be dead in a few moments. He’s currently breathing his last.”

“No shit. My sister?”

“I’ve got her. She’s…in shock.”

“Get her out of there. I'll deal with the body,” he says before the line goes dead.

“Come on, Little Sinner, I’ve got you.”

“Fuck!” I shout, waking up after having that same dream for the thousandth time. Fuck this. I throw the blankets off and get dressed. I have to see her.

Thirty minutes later, I’m in her little studio apartment watching her sleep. The sun will rise soon, but I have time. I do this a lot. More than I should. I watch her sleep and leave before she wakes.

I consider touching her, but I don’t. I never do. Just watch. I feel like that sparkling vampire creep. Lurking while she sleeps. But this is the only way I can be near her when she’s not glaring at me.

If she had any idea I did this, she’d probably tell her father and brother, hoping they’d kill me. Of course, I’d probably be able to talk my way out of it, but I don’t really want to test that theory.

I watch as Roxy groans in her sleep, rolling over and burying her face in her pillow. She seems so peaceful, but I know nightmares haunt her dreams.

Chapter 5

Roxy

It’s been a week since Storm showed up at the club and ruined my job. I didn’t even have to quit, because Paul sent me a text letting me know I’d been fired.

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that Storm threatened him. I thought it was a miracle I got hired in the first place. I assumed Paul had no idea who my father was.

Whatever, it doesn’t matter now.

Tomorrow is a big night, but tonight I’m having a girl's night with April.

“How was your week?” I ask when she walks in my front door. She’s been my best friend for a couple of years now and is the only girl I hang out with. She’s basically the only person I hang out with.

April is really pretty with long blonde hair and bright blue eyes. She’s my height at five-five and works out like it’s her second job. She’s sweet and happy and, like a ray of sunshine, is always positive.

It used to annoy me a little bit, but I’ve come to need her upbeat views of the world. Whenever the darkness gets too heavy, she reminds me to enjoy the rainbows.

“It was boring. Nothing but school, work, and sleep. You should see my apartment right now. It’s a freaking mess.” She sighs heavily. I watch her as she places a massive bottle of wine on the coffee table and then turns to me for a hug. “What about you?”

“Oh, you know, same old same old,” I grumble, and April smiles sympathetically. She knows all about my struggles with Storm. Although, she has no idea that Storm killed my uncle. I left that detail out for obvious reasons.

But she’s seen him scare off guys plenty of times over the years. She’s well aware of the push and pull between us, and she’s the one who sent me the details for the party tomorrow night.

“Are you at least excited about tomorrow?” she asks, and I shrug.

“In a way. I mean, I have spent years avoiding Storm, but he somehow always manages to cock block me,” I huff. She also has no idea that I was trying to meet up with Eric and ended up getting eaten out by Storm. That would have been difficult to explain.
